Balmain x H&M Sells Out Online In An Hour

In what comes as no surprise, the highly anticipated Balmain x H&M collection has already sold out on H&M’s website. The collection went live online at 8 a.m. today. Sometime not long after the launch, the site crashed due to the incredibly high volume of traffic.
When the site went back up around 9 a.m., most of the collection was completely sold out save for a few sizes here and there. If you decided to try your luck at one of the select locations carrying the collection, you probably experienced similar mayhem.
Photos and videos show customers lined up around the block and rushing into stores, knocking over racks of clothing as they attempt to get their hands on the collection.

Stores around the world also opened at 8 a.m., so items are likely dwindling in stores, too. We’ve spotted pieces from the collection already popping up on eBay — some priced at twice their original cost.
Remember that beaded velvet blazer that Kendall Jenner wore to the Billboard Music Awards in May? At H&M, it retails for $549. On eBay, it’s listed at $1,200.
The suede thigh-boots that retailed for $349 are on eBay for $1,020, and some of the heels and booties are running over $700.
We don’t yet know if the collection will be restocked online or in stores. But this is rarely done with a designer collaboration of this level.
All of the hype around the collection can mostly be credited to Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing and his “Balmain Army” of models who wear his designs. Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid wore spring ’16 runway looks in Paris before the show even happened, and then post-show, the models wore runway designs straight to the after-party.
The shoes in the H&M collection are nearly identical to those in Balmain’s fall ’14 collection.
