Auburn had to rewrite its record book after Daniel Carlson's performance against Ole Miss.

The sophomore kicker converted his fourth field goal of the season from 50 or more yards, breaking a school record that was set 46 years ago by John "Rat" Riley in 1969.

"There's been a lot of really, really good kickers come through here," Carlson said. "Recently with Wes Byrum and Cody Parkey. It means a lot. I'm not going to think about it too much in the season, but I'm sure looking back on it one day will be something special."

Carlson nailed all four of his field goals in the 27-19 loss to Ole Miss. His long kick came first -- a 52-yarder in the opening quarter -- followed by kicks of 23, 33 yards 26 yards as the Tigers struggled to get the ball into the end zone.

Carlson has made 14 of his 17 field goal attempts this season and has converted all 24 of his extra-point attempts. His other three field goals from beyond 50 yards came against Louisville (56), Mississippi State (51) and San Jose State (55).

"Last year I didn't have a long kick until really the last game," he said. "I started off the season with a long one and Coach (Gus) Malzahn gives me the chance when we're in range. It's just how things play out. We seem to stall out there every once in a while and I just have to go in and do my job when I can. Capitalize.

"It's nice knowing I have the leg and I'm comfortable back there. I just need to keep doing what I've been doing."

The Tigers (4-4, 1-4 SEC) travel to Texas A&M (6-2, 3-2) this week.
