Refrigeration Engineer – Alan’s Triathlon
The Synecore team are making great progress in their fundraising efforts. Alan Gomez only joined the air conditioning and electrical contractor less than three months ago as a refrigeration engineer and is already proving to be a great asset and team player. Alan has offered to complete an enduring triathlon to raise money for Holding On Letting Go. His challenge is to finish The Bridge Triathlon in Dartford on Sunday 18 June.
Originally from Barcelona in Spain, Alan is enjoying the cooler British climate while training for the triathlon, but still has his work cut out. The event will see him swim for 1500 metres, cycle for 42km and finally run for 10km!
Alan shows complete determination to fulfil his challenge and we support him every step of the way. Please show him your support by donating on his My Donate page http://ow.ly/bsKj30aky7Z
Charity Quiz Night
As well as Alan’s amazing efforts, Claire Hobson from Synecore’s Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Service Department is organising a Charity Quiz Night at her local sports club. The venue for the evening has been kindly donated by Gore Court Cricket Club in Sittingbourne, Kent, near Maidstone. The management at the club have also laid on bar staff free-of-charge.
The Quiz Night will take place at 7pm on Friday 19 May. As well as the main quiz – which will be suitable for all ages and abilities – there will be some fun games, a serving bar and a raffle, with some incredible prizes, including a four ball at the London Golf Club (donated by Synecore) worth £350!
Entry is just £5 and teams can be made up of all sizes. Tables seat up to 10 people.
If you would like to attend, please email Claire.hobson@synecore.co.uk, or visit the Facebook event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/1660524737576537/

About Holding On Letting Go
Holding on Letting Go (HOLG) is a charity that supports bereaved children in Kent, who have sadly lost a significant member of their family or a close friend. The children that HOLG support are struggling to come to terms with their loss, which can affect their behaviour, school work and relationships.
Unfortunately, a significant number of the children HOLG support are bereaved because of a suicide. This is obviously difficult for many adults to understand, but especially a child.
Through various therapeutic activities over the course of an organised weekend the children learn to let go of their pain, anger and confusion and keep hold of their precious memories. Most of the children that attend these events feel alone, but once mixed with children in a similar situation they can feel part of a community. Often these children create a bond with one another and build long lasting relationships.
The weekend events are not intended to be a sad occasion, but one that celebrates the life and relationship the child had with their loved one. Many of the children don’t realise they have been involved in any kind of therapy, they have simply had fun with their new friends. At the end of the weekend everyone releases a balloon to signify letting go of the hurt and pain.
HOLG events rely heavily on volunteers, who have experience working with children or have been bereaved themselves. It takes great skill and sensitivity to be a volunteer, so HOLG provide an intensive training course for volunteers to help the children during the weekend events.
