Enhance your career with our Academy alumni network

The HIVE online network is open to all Academy of Medical Sciences alumni to connect with peers and access further career development opportunities, resources and events.

Our HIVE alumni programme is open to everyone in our impressive alumni community, including all former Academy grant awardees and career programme participants, both in the UK and around the world, from over the past 20 years. Explore the network and join here.

Dr Mehrdad Mizani, Research Fellow in Health Data Science at University College London and part of the HIVE design team:

“In a research world that relies more than ever on the power of working across organisational and national boundaries, we hope our new online network can create the open knowledge ecosystem among alumni to help patients of the future.

“Even the biggest breakthrough has to start with a simple conversation – come and join us online today.”

The HIVE community has access to the HIVE alumni portal which includes career development resources, opportunities to be involved in the Academy’s work, as well as other opportunities shared by alumni. We are lucky to have such a diverse community, coming from different countries and having a wide range of backgrounds, sectors, industries, and areas of expertise. We also run events specifically for our HIVE members.

This year's annual HIVE event will be held on 29 September 2022.

The event is centred around the theme of 'working with the Academy' - learn more about what the Academy does, how this impacts you, and how you can get involved as a HIVE member.

You will also hear about our new 10-year strategy. The event will include an exciting panel, bringing together individuals from across the NHS, social care and public health; academia; charities and industry to speak about their experience of cross-sector working, with a chance for you to pose questions. Voices of the HIVE community will be represented on the panel.

We are seeking members for our advisory group

As we look to develop the longer-term activities of the HIVE programme, we will soon be seeking to convene an advisory group to help ensure that our communities' needs are met.

This group will advise both the HIVE and PILLAR programmes, and will be comprised of members from across the two communities. If you are interested in joining or have any questions about the advisory group, please do get in touch via ams.hive@acmedsci.ac.uk. We will be sharing more details about this in the near future.
