Keeping up the spirit – a Partnership challenge
'The TLAP Partnership has often been described as the moral heart of the social care system. If this is the case, then we are perfectly positioned to return the focus of the narrative to personalisation as a rights based issue, and not one of systems or process. That is the spirit of the Care Act and the challenge from National Coproduction Advisory Group members to us'.

Adam Webb has ten years experience of personalisation policy work across local government and will be heading up our work to support local authority commissioning and market shaping.
He is keen to hear from anyone with good examples of innovation in the commissioning of care and support. He would also like to hear from councils on their progress in meeting the market-shaping duties in Section 5 of the Care Act.

VODG calls for central role in NHS amid cuts and uncertainty
VODG have launched a new report outlining the need for a closer partnership between health and voluntary groups.
The paper describes the challenges and solutions to more joined up approaches to health and care. It emphasises that collaboration is vital amid ongoing funding cuts and post –Brexit- related uncertainties relating to workforce, funding, policy and legislation.
VODG present a series of actions that voluntary care providers could take to move closer to health.

Department of Health supports new Care Act Guides for Occupational Therapists
Occupational therapists are recognised by the government as fundamental to the successful implementation of the key principles enshrined within the Care Act. They have published a series of guides that have the most implications for the work of occupational therapists:
- Wellbeing
- Prevention
- Disabled Facilities Grants
- Transitions, custodial settings, employment, training and education

TLAP Care Act survey - soon to be published
TLAP will be publishing a Care Act survey in early September. One year on from the implementation of the Care Act, we want to hear about the experiences of people with care and support needs to find out what difference the Act is making.
There have been many Care Act surveys, but this one will be the first that seeks the views of people who have been directly impacted by the changes.
The results will be used, alongside information from councils and others to help the Department of Health identify problems and workable solutions to inform future work on the Care Act.
