The Department of Health says it hopes Monday's ruling by the Labour Appeals Court will stabilise the situation at public health facilities around the county.

The court interdicted the strike action by Nehawu over pay - ordering the trade union's members back to work with immediate effect.

The union was ordered to inform its members and officials across the country about the ruling by no later than 13:00 today.

"We believe this judgement will bring some form of stability in health facilities across the country. This is a victory for the innocent, vulnerable and un-unionised patients who have suffered the consequences of the disruptive and violent strike action," says the Health Department's Foster Mohale.

"We also believe Nehawu will implement the judgement and inform its members to return to work as soon as possible.”
