Wondering what restaurant will replace the dearly departed Rialto at the Charles Hotel? Wonder no more. The space occupied for decades by chef Jody Adams will be taken over by Giulia chef-owner Michael Pagliarini, who’ll open Benedetto. We’re told Pagliarini has signed a long-term lease with the Charles Hotel, and the Benedetto space is being completely renovated. “Chef Pagliarini has a hands-on commitment to the culinary scene in our Harvard Square backyard. We are honored to work with him and his team and look forward to opening Benedetto’s doors as soon as renovations are completed,” Charles Hotel GM Alex Attia said in a statement. The new, 220-seat restaurant/bar, designed by New York’s Bentel & Bentel Architects, will have a casual bar, upscale dining room, working pasta table, and extensive wine display. Giulia, which is located on Mass. Ave., between Harvard and Porter squares, is staying open. We’re told that Jenny Johnson, cohost of “Dining Playbook,” introduced the parties and facilitated the transaction.
