Flavia Pennetta says that she hasn't changed her mind and still plans to retire at the end of the year.

"I'm really happy with my decision, yes. [I'm not] going to change nothing," she said in Beijing, where she was playing in her first event since winning the U.S. Open. "Of course, I would like to finish the year, so that's what I say before also in U.S. Open. I'm here because I would like to finish in the high way I can do, and then it's over."

Pennetta lost in the third round in Beijing to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, but the world No. 7 could still qualify for the WTA Finals in Singapore.

The 33-year-old says that she is happy on the court and off. She is engaged to fellow Italian Fabio Fognini.
"It's a good moment of my life," she said. "I mean, I have everything that I always would like to have. Professionally, I'm in the perfect moment. I won one of my favorite tournaments, one of the best tournaments in the world. I have my high ranking. I have the person that I love with me. I just can say I'm really happy."
