Ridgeland Football Coach Cortney Braswell Leaving For Job With Louisville Cardinals

Rossville, GA-(WDEF-TV) Ridgeland high school football coach Cortney Braswell is headed to the college ranks. He’s taking a job with the University of Louisville.

Louisville has a new head coach in Marcus Satterfield who was at App State. Braswell got to be good friends with App State assistant Dale Jones, the former Tennessee Vols linebacker who played high school ball at Bradley Central. When Jones went with Satterfield to Louisville, Jones asked Braswell if he would like to come on board as a defensive quality control coach.

Said Braswell:”Poor kids from Northwest Georgia shouldn’t have these kinds of opportunities. This stuff doesn’t come often. To have the opportunity to go in the ACC. Get to do the things that I get to do. Getting to see Clemson in the fall. Getting to go and play Notre Dame. I mean two out of the four teams in the college football playoffs are on our schedule next year. That’s stuff exciting. The only think I know is I don’t have to take attendance anymore. I don’t have to put grades in the grade book. I don’t have bus duty. I’m really, really excited about those things, and I guess I’ll find out what my responsibilities are kind of as they go along.”
