Maryland football head coach Randy Edsall could be on thin ice.

A report from InsideMDSports.com says the former Syracuse University football player and assistant will "likely" be let go following the Terps' game against Ohio State this weekend.

Randy Edsall is unlikely to survive as Maryland's football coach past this weekend's game against Ohio State, multiple sources close to the situation told InsideMDSports. Barring an unexpected last-minute reversal, Maryland will part ways with Edsall when the floundering Terps enter their mid-season bye week.

Edsall, a Syracuse University alum, is in the fifth year of his a six-year, $10 million contract at Maryland.

Maryland is off to a 2-3 start to the 2015 season. Their losses to Bowling Green, West Virginia and Michigan have come by an average score of 40-11.

Edsall has a 22-33 overall record at Maryland. He is 0-11 vs. Top 25 teams.

Maryland recently held a players-only meeting prior to the Michigan loss, resulting in Edsall's admission he was unaware of the meeting.

Edsall played at Syracuse and then coached 11 years (1980-1991) at SU, starting as a graduate assistant.

Edsall has been linked to the Syracuse University football head coaching position in the past.

A New York Times report in 2008 indicated that before Syracuse hired Doug Marrone, it reached out to gauge Edsall's interest in taking over after Greg Robinson.

Several former Orange players campaigned for Edsall to get the job in 2008.
