Arlington man confesses to multiple sexual assault attempts

ARLINGTON, Va. (WJLA) -- A 19-year-old man confessed to multiple sexual assault attempts in Arlington County Wednesday.

Arlington County Police arrested and charged Melvin Perez Bonilla, 19, with two counts of attempted abduction with the intent to defile for his role in multiple sexual assault incidents, according to police.

Bonilla confessed to the multiple sexual assault attempts during questioning by police.

The initial attack by Bonilla occurred July 25 in the 1900 block of N. Scott Street in Clarendon. A 25-year-old woman was walking alone at 1:20 a.m. when Bonilla struck.

The second attack happened Aug. 8 in the 1900 block of N. Highland Street. The 29-year-old victim was walking alone.

A third attack occurred at 10:20 p.m on Sept. 29 in the 1200 block of N. Quincy Street. The 23-year-old female victim was walking home.

Bonilla is currently being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.
