At first glance, this might look like video of a parking lot or a rich kid's Hot Wheels collection, but it's actually real (drone) footage of a real traffic jam on a real highway. Possibly the worst traffic jam of all time, in fact. This freeway, which runs into Beijing from some popular vacation destinations elsewhere in China, apparently instituted a new checkpoint. That created such an unholy bottleneck that what appears to be at least a 20-lane highway became a parking lot for miles.
Think about this the next time you're stuck in "traffic" on the way to work.
Update [10/9/15, 1:52 PM]: Business Insider reports that some travelers were stranded on the highway for as long as five days.
