The city of Fort Lauderdale has lifted a precautionary advisory issued Sunday after a broken sewer line contaminated part of the New River in the downtown area.

On Sunday, the city issued a precautionary advisory against swimming, fishing, jet-skiing and other water-related activities in the area between the 500 feet east of the railroad on Southwest First Avenue and 500 feet west of the railroad on Nugent Avenue.

Crews repaired the sewer line and tests show that the river is safe for water-related activities, city spokesman Matt Little said in a news release.
