BlindSaver.com Helps Spread Awareness for Window Cord Safety Month

For the month of October, BlindSaver.com will donate 1 percent of all proceeds from their cordless window blind collection to charity, Parents for Window Blind Safety

DENVER--()--BlindSaver is spreading awareness about National Window Covering Safety Month in October. It’s estimated that five to ten children die every year due to strangulation caused by window blind cords, according to Parents for Window Blind Safety (PFWBS). Over the years, this has resulted in hundreds of easily preventable deaths. The number of unreported incidents and injuries is even greater.

In an effort to raise awareness and prevent future tragedies, BlindSaver is donating 1 percent of cordless window blind sales during October to PFWBS’ “Go Cordless Educational Program.” This campaign funds educational posters in hospitals, daycares, doctors’ offices and other locations where parents and relatives of young children are likely to see them. This donation will also help PFWBS create educational videos to further spread this important message.

“Window cords can be lethal to kids in less than one minute – they’re a hazard in plain sight. Unfortunately, this hazard is often overlooked by even the most diligent parents. Parents for Window Blind Safety encourages parents to go cordless throughout their homes, starting first in their children’s bedrooms,” said Linda Kaiser, founder of PFWBS. “October Window Cord Safety Month is important to us and we’re so thankful to BlindSaver for not only offering affordable cordless blinds, but for working so hard to bring awareness to this incredibly important issue.”

“This is an important cause that often gets overlooked and BlindSaver wants to do its part to spread awareness and promote safety,” Tim Baker, president of BlindSaver, offered. “During October, we will be offering free cordless upgrades on most products to help our customers purchase this important safety option. In addition, BlindSaver Basics line of cellular shades are cordless free of charge year round.”
