Washington - Professional boxer and five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr. abandoned his retirement and took to the boxing ring on Saturday to challenge professional mixed martial artist, reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, and former UFC Featherweight Champion, Conor McGregor in a much anticipated "money fight".

The winner was Mayweather, who beat McGregor in a technical knockout in the tenth round. 

The fight which was confirmed in June and took place at Las Vegas's T-Mobile Arena in a 12-round boxing contest. 

The "money fight" was said to to generate millions of dollars by making Mayweather a $100 million whereas McGregor will see $75 million added to his fortune, reports IO Trendz.

The Mirror reports that Sky Sports will air the fight in the United States at R262.94 million. 

Eager spectators spent R5 140 cheapest to secure the cheapest available seat at the legendary contest. 

However, seats at the fight are also available for an outstanding R77 762. 

The odds are set with many keen supporter betting on the match, generating a financial flurry. 

Reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, McGregor participated in 25 fights, attaining 22 wins and seeing 3 defeats. 

However, his competitor, Mayweather has participated in and won 49 fights with zero defeats.
