Thank you for your interest in bringing your art to Boston Decompression 2015: MIMESIS. The venue provides a lot of interesting opportunities for large-scale indoor art, outdoor art, and theme appropriate deco, but space is not unlimited and there are several challenging installation issues.

INDOORS (Bar area): This consists of a main dance floor area, some adjoining bar space, and a comfortable side-room chillout space. There is a limited amount of floor space and ceilings are low, which will restrict the amount of free-standing installations or sculptural art. We do, however, have lots of walls where art and deco can be hung or projected. Some small hanging pieces may be suspended from the ceiling or the light grid over the dance floor. As in the previous year, we'll have a projection screen behind the main stage; the indoor area also has close to a dozen individual flatscreen TVs we can take over.

OUTDOORS: We have a fantastic extra-wide alley we will be turning into a Art Yard, providing ample space for free-standing installations and big sculptures—BUT you must be prepared for cold and/or inclement weather. We are planning to project on at least one, and possibly two sides of the three-story building faces on either side of the alley, so video-mapping and other interactive or non-interactive video proposals are most welcome.

MORE INDOORS (Garage): For the second year in a row we're expanding into the adjoining parking garage as an additional art space. Ceiling heights range from 10-12'. The garage is fully enclosed and protected from the weather; it's an old and quirky space. There will quite likely be a secondary dance floor and loud music at one end of the garage.

TRANSPORTATION: If you need assistance getting your project to the venue, we can help with transportation arrangements. There will be an art truck collecting pieces from various locations around town (Artisan's Asylum, etc.) and to encourage new work from outside the Boston metro area, we may be able to help arrange transportation. Contact art@blackrockeast.org with questions about transportation.

* Setup in the main indoor space can begin Friday, November 6th.
* Setup in the garage and outdoor yard can begin the morning of Saturday, November 7th. The garages cannot be blocked off till 5pm and the roadway through the yard must be accessible to emergency vehicles throughout the night.
* ALL setup must be complete by 7 PM.
* IMPORTANT: Teardown begins once the venue closes, the garage will begin at 1am and inside the club at 2 AM. Everything must be packed up before we leave, we will not be responsible for anything left in the alley or yard. If this seems daunting, do not fear; our army of volunteers will be on hand to assist you. If you can't be around to strike your own installation that's totally fine, but please give us explicit instructions for safe handling of your art, and/or designate a representative to oversee its transport.

Please give us as much information as you can about your installation requirements so we can accommodate as much art and deco as possible. We'd like to have completed surveys back by 16th October, 2015.

ALSO, PLEASE NOTE: This is a radically participatory event, meaning everyone—organizers, performers, musicians, and artists— are all responsible for purchasing their own ticket. The event will sell out so purchase your tickets as soon as you are able! There will be a limited number of low-income tickets please email tickets@blackrockeast.com for more info.

When tickets go on sale, the purchase link will be placed here, and also posted to the Boston Burning Man regional announce and discussion email lists, the Boston Decompression Facebook group/event, etc.
