Reports That Afghan And Coalition Forces Have Retaken The City Of Kunduz Appear To Be Premature

Al Jazeera: Taliban claims to recapture Afghan city of Kunduz

Armed group says it is in control of strategic city after it was briefly taken by government forces backed by US.

The Taliban has reportedly regained control of the northern city of Kunduz, after days of intense fighting against Afghan troops backed by US air strikes, Al Jazeera has learnt.

Earlier on Sunday, government forces, which have been trying to take control of the city, said they had made gains, but those appear to have been shortlived.

Al Jazeera's Qais Azimy, reporting from Puli Khumri just south of Kunduz, said that at around 1200 GMT, Taliban fighters launched counter-attacks, driving back government forces from the areas, where they had earlier made gains.

Update: Taliban push on, seizing strategic hubs & key roads across Afghanistan -- RT

WNU Editor: This is not going to be an easy battle ... contrary to early Afghan government claims that much of the city had been retaken . The above Al Jazeera report (if true) is very disturbing.

Looks like the story is not the only thing changing, compare the vest our intrepid reporter is wearing in this photo vs your post:http://warnewsupdates.blogspot.com/2015/10/us-special-forces-engaged-in-fire-fight.html

I take Al-Jazeera's word for a grain of salt. They have a vested interest in keeping the narrative going to fit their needs. I again state, the facts on thr ground are being exgerrated by these clowns and the "Taliban" have maybe a few buildings or block of the city at most and they probably do not have those anymore. Everytime the Taliban sends a few diehards to raid something, Al Jazeera always seemto be there, pumping it up beyond recognition to where, its hard to filter out the bullshit with what is actually going on. One Taliban can shoot up a building and the press will be there telling the world what a huge setback it is for the coalition and if you notice these stories are all put out by the same Taliban sympathisers of the local press. I am tired of the distortions these clowns put out.
