The insightful results showed how the average Brit could buy an all inclusive seven-day break for two in the Mediterranean for the same cost of their daily coffee, whilst the money they spend on drinks could get them a Chanel handbag

With the money that the average Brit spends on cigarettes a year - £1,945 - they could buy a 2006 plate car.

The research also showed that if the average Brit stopped spending £8 on buying their lunch out every day, they could buy themselves a luxurious Tiffany ring by the end of the year.
