Shriners Hospital for Children – Canada

The new Shriners Hospital for Children in Montreal, Canada is set to open in October.  This new 207,000-foot facility has 22 single-patient rooms, four surgical suites, including one designed specifically for back surgery, a 200-seat education center and features new services and technologies. It is six stories and also houses an ambulatory care infusion room and an operating room equipped with an O-arm surgical imaging system for spine surgery.

The design team used the colors and attractions of the different regions of Canada as inspiration for design elements throughout the space in order to make the facility welcoming and friendly to everyone.  There are maple leafs in the reception area while the ambulatory clinic has been designed to look like a hockey rink.

Healthcare Design Magazine has a photo tour and article on this new facility.  To read the article and view all the pictures, click here.
