Two firefighters were hospitalized after a ceiling collapsed during a house fire in German Village Tuesday morning.

Columbus Fire said two firefighters were taken to local hospitals after the ceiling collapsed, but both are expected to be okay.

Firefighters said flames were likely started by lightning at the home on East Sycamore Street near South Grant Avenue. Columbus Fire said everyone was out of the house when they arrived. Damage was visible on the roof.

Later in the morning, firefighters responded to a reported gas leak in the same area. Columbia Gas was called out and the leak was contained.
