UFC 192 workout highlights: A high-flying slo-mo visit from Sage Northcutt

HOUSTON – UFC newbie Sage Northcutt wasn’t on the original docket for Wednesday’s open workouts in Houston.

But earlier this week, the UFC added him to the schedule for the workouts – not bad for a 19-year-old about to make his UFC debut on the Fight Pass portion of the card.

The newly signed Houston-area native makes his debut on Saturday night against Francisco Trevino (12-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC). A UFC public relations rep told MMAjunkie that Northcutt couldn’t wait come downstairs at the host hotel to meet fans and talk to the media – a big part of the UFC experience, and not something that gets to happen for every fighter in his his first bout with the promotion.

Northcutt (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) had some pretty heavy-hitting company on the mats before and after his workout and scrum, including UFC 192 headliners Daniel Cormier (16-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) and Alexander Gustafsson (16-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC), who fight for Cormier’s light heavyweight title; co-main event welterweight contenders Johny Hendricks (17-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) and Tyron Woodley (15-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC); and light heavyweights Ryan Bader (19-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) and Rashad Evans (19-3-1 MMA, 14-3-1 UFC).

The fighters worked out ahead of UFC 192, which takes place Saturday at Toyota Center in Houston. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
