Tashlyn is a young woman who has lived with her father's sister since she was 7 years old, and her father was murdered right before her eyes 16 years ago. If it were not for someone finding her and telling her to run a long time ago she would have died right along with her father. Her Aunt Carly lives in a commune called The Grog and Tashlyn led a happy life there growing up and having so many peace loving people looking out for her. However she has never put her father's death out of her mind so decides she is going to go back to the town it happened in to see if she can find out what really happened. All she remembers is wandering and being found at the Ranger's Station.
So with her Aunt's blessing and a packet of post cards with stamps on them so she can write her Aunt everyday, (as they do not use cell phones at The Grog), she hops on the bus and travels to Blackthorn Ridge. On the bus she meets up with Everly and they become fast friends. Everly invites her to stay at her home with her, instead of in the rundown motel she was going to check into and it is closer to the job she found in the classified Ads so she gratefully accepts. She also tells Everly about her Dad dying at the Phantom Curve, a place that is known for semi trucks running off the road and falling all the way to the bottom of the cliff. Everly tells her there are at least 10 shrines on the stretch of road. So Everly agrees to wait for Tashlyn at her Uncle's market while Tashlyn crosses the bridge to visit the Phantom Curve, but she still remembers nothing.
While there she runs into the Wolfe brothers, Jem and Dane. Dane is the older one but not really all there sometimes and Jem has looked out for Dane since he was younger. Jem helps her back up the path she had slipped down and she thanks him and goes to Everly's house.
When she goes to the job site at the lumber mill and meets her boss he is so happy to have her work for him, and she is is overwhelmed at all the men gawking at her! However her interest is snagged by the town bad boy, and although a few people warn her he is bad news she can't help but like him. Jem is handsome and she can see through his bad boy persona to the nice man underneath.
Not everyone in Blackthorn Bridge is glad to see Tashlyn back in town however as the town hides a multitude of crimes and criminals to go with it. Things start happening to Tashlyn that scare her and cause her to start remembering what she blocked out all those years ago. One thing is for sure; the same people who killed her father 16 years ago are now going to find a way to do away with her!
Read this book, I guarantee that you will be just as surprised as I was at who is behind all these crimes! The added bonus is the rest of the story and the relationship between Jem and Tashlyn!
I gave this book 5***** well earned stars! I look forward to the next book by Tess Oliver, she is the best!

I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put it down, I just HAD to find out what happened to Tashlyn and her dad all those years ago.
This story is about Tashlyn who lost her dad when she was a child to a trucking accident leaving her an orphan. She was raised by her hippy aunt in a commune, and now at 23 she's returned to the town of the site of her dad's accident. She needs answers, not least to how she came to be wandering around the forest as a lost and scared seven year old child on the night of her dad's death. There she meets Jem Wolfe, town bad boy living under the shadow of his family's bad name. She warned about him, told if she's any sense she'll stay away, but she's drawn to him and feels a connection to him right off the bat.
This story intrigued me greatly, as did the characters. Other than the main characters, Dane in particular piqued my interest. I'm wondering if he'll get his own book, he's a bit mysterious and it's evident he has some difficulties and issues, I'd love to read more of him.
I definitely recommend this book, those of you who have read Tess before will know she can do no wrong when it comes to her books, I've yet to find one I haven't loved. Those of you who haven't read her yet, well why the hell not?!

I would highly recommend this book. The character development was very good and it has enough suspense to keep you interested. I have read other books by Tess Oliver and, like the others, it did not disappoint.
