This second installment in The Rousseau’s series centers around Mad, twin sister to Jax. Mad has just caught her boyfriend of three years cheating for the umpteenth time and she’s had enough. Finally, she finds the strength from within to break up with him. Feeling a bit lost and alone she ends up walking the streets of Rittenhouse Square in Philly. She happens upon a small French bar and café and imbibes on several shots of tequila. Little does she know that someone from her childhood is in the bar and will come to her rescue when she gets sick from overindulging on tequila.
Cort Ambler is one of the musicians performing at the café and he can’t believe his eyes when he sees Mad Rousseau there. He’s had a thing for her since he was thirteen-years-old but never made his feelings known and then a few years later during a drunken stupor, he made the mistake of kissing Jax at a party because in his inebriated state he thought she was Mad. The two end up dating for a couple of months and it was only because he didn’t want to embarrass Jax and she had basically coerced him into a relationship. But he couldn’t keep up with the lie and when they broke up, he let Jax tell everyone it was she who called it off and he also allowed her to come up with the reason for the break-up. Cort had no idea that Jax would paint him out to be a supreme jerk which resulted in Mad's hatred of him. Cort ends up walking Mad home and she invites him in. They spend the night catching up on old times and also discussing what has been going on in their lives up till now. The conversation is easy and the company is more than intoxicating. They’re both feeling the sexual tension between them and soon a kiss is turning into so much more, but Mad’s guilty conscience over betraying her sister, Jax, has her putting a stop to whatever is building between her and Cort.
Not even a day has gone by and the two of them can’t stop thinking about their night together. Neither one of them wants whatever is building between them to end. The next day they end up running into each other again when Mad shows up at the café. This time they’re both unable to deny the strong attraction that is pulling them towards each other. Mad and Cort decide to spend one more night together but they promise to avoid bringing up their exes. Mad also makes Cort swear that he will not fall in love with her. It’s kind of hard for him to agree to this seeing as how she stole his heart when he was only thirteen.
Will Cort and Mad be able to walk away from each other after their night is over? Or will Mad risk her relationship with her sister and go after the man she loves? You’ll need to pick this one up to find out.

Marry Me Mad was a beautiful and touching love story of epic proportions. It captivated me from the very beginning and held my interest till the last page. I went through a kaleidoscope of emotions while reading it, feeling Mad and Cort's hope and despair about the situation they were in, knowing that not everyone will understand their feelings for each other and support their relationship. I wanted them to fight for their love and a future together and let their hearts guide them.
After reading Jonquils for Jax we already know that Mad's twin sis Jacqueline had a boyfriend - Cortlandt - who broke her teenage heart. That was reason enough for Madeleine to hate Cort forever and change her opinion about him. During the next 10 years their paths didn't cross very often. Until the fateful night when Madeleine Rousseau stepped inside a French dive bar following a beautiful and familiar piano melody determined to drown her sorrow in Tequila after finding out about her boyfriend's infidelity. Never could Mad have imagined that the very talented and gorgeous looking pianist with tattooed forearms would be Cortlandt Ambler. He offers her to walk her home after she got sick and they end up spending the rest of the night talking and trying to catch up. Mad realises that Cort has changed a lot from the 17 year old teenager she once knew and had hidden feelings for. But she can't forgive him for hurting her twin so much. Both are not able to forget their encounter - the meaningful looks they exchanged, the words they said to each other, the explosive chemistry between them, the hungry and demanding kiss. Can they fight their strong feelings for each other and stay away? Or are they going to finally realise that they were meant for one another from the very beginning?
I can tell you with absolute certainty that you are going to love Mad and Cort and that you will find yourself rooting for them. They are now without a doubt my favorite Blueberry Lane couple. Madeleine has a kind heart and is a loyal and caring person. I could understand her conflicted feelings because I have a twin sister myself whom I love more than anything. Cortlandt is a swoon-worthy, hot guy - a romantic and firm believer in fate. He was determined to fight for Mad and treated her with so much love, respect and understanding. Cort made my heart melt like butter in the sun. I simply adore him!
I know that many of you think that dating your sister's ex-boyfriend is a no-go. But Jax and Cort were teenagers when they were together and they never slept with each other. After everything about their relationship and break-up is revealed you will be perfectly fine about Mad and Cort.
Katy Regnery definitely knows how to enchant a reader's heart with her beautiful and poignant writing and her lovable and charming characters. Once again she has shown her amazing talent and made me fall in love with another fantastic story in this addictive series! 5+ stars

Fate......either you believe in it or you don't. When someone reappears from your past, that someone that held a special place in your heart, can those feelings of long ago come alive again? It doesn't make sense, it shouldn't be happening, but sometimes fate has its own mind in deciding the when and where.
Madeline "Mad" Rousseau's life is falling apart. But when fate brings her to a bar, the music within drives her to come inside to drown her sorrows. But when she looks at the piano player, she can't believe her eyes, it's her childhood friend, Cortlantd "Cort" Ambler, her sister's ex boyfriend and the one!!! You become invested in their happiness because fate found and connected them again. This book is a wonderful love story. It is fluffy and deliciously scrumptious. The moment Katy Regnery revealed the first excerpts of Marry Me Mad (The Rousseaus #2) I was intrigued. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book and start reading. This wish became reality when I got an early copy of this Blueberry Lane masterpiece that totally blew my mind. I confess I had very high expectations for this book which were all surpassed. Katy Regnery delivered another winner in this addictive series that is without a doubt my new favorite!
After catching her fiance Thatcher cheating on her (again), Mad decides to finally break up with him. Sad and disappointed, she is strolling through the streets of Philadelphia until she is lured into a French bar by the sound of a piano. She is shocked and in awe after discovering who the talented pianist is: Cortlandt “Cort” Ambler, the ex-boyfriend of Mad’s sister Jax. While drinking and reflecting on her life, Mad decides she’s had enough of being sweet. It's time for a change! When Cort saves her from a terrible disaster on this evening, an unlikely friendship is born between the two. Cortlandt always had it bad for Mad. He secretly hopes for more while Madeleine is having a guilty conscience about starting to have feelings for Cort. Is there a chance for a HEA for these two? How can they only stay friends when their chemistry is off the charts and their hearts seam to beat to the same rhythm?
Cort Ambler is not only the first tatooed Blueberry Lane hero, he is one of the most amazing heroes written by this incredibly talented author! I'm crazy about him. Despite coming from a very wealthy family he is a down to earth guy that doesn't care much about money. This is something he has in common with Mad. He is blessed with great looks and a beautiful caring heart, while Mad is sweet and gentle but has a rebellious and adventerous side too. She just needed the right man at her side to unleash the passion that was hidden inside her!
Some of you might debate whether or not to read this book because you think that it's totally a no go for a sister to date her sister's ex. I totally understand that! Please let me tell you that Cort and Jax have been teenagers while they dated and their relationship was very chaste. Cort was actually always into Mad. Once you read this book, everything will come together and you will be happy about the outcome - I promise!
To sum it up: Cort's and Mad's story is like the perfect love song - full of raw emotions and a melody that will make your heart beat faster and will stay with you long after you have heard it.

I'm wondering why I've never read anything from Katy Regnery before????!!!! Dude, I've been missing out!! This seems like an incredibly sweet, swoony, crazily hot, and romantic series and this book was no exception.
Do you believe in fate? In second chances? Madeleine "Mad" Rousseau has been betrayed in the worst way and she was heartbroken. Hearing the familiar tune of Le Cigne (The Swan), she follows the music to a bar/club and once there she decides to drown her sorrows. To her surprise and as luck would have it, the man with his talented hands on the piano is Colt, her childhood friend (and one-time secret love interest).
There was no real courtship. From the moment their eyes met, their souls recognized each other. It was instalove/lust at its finest. The only problem? Colt is her sister's ex-boyfriend.
The chemistry was on point and it was HOT! Their connection was intense! And their hearts were at peace. It was sappy, sweet and totally swoon-worthy goodness. When all is said and done, is there ever an occasion to break "girl code"?

I don't know how it keeps happening. How every single time I pick up a Katy Regnery book - and there have been a lot of them - I find myself falling in love. Breathlessly. Joyously. Over and over again. There was no doubt in my mind that I was going to love Marry Me Mad - but still, the butterflies, the sweet ache in my heart, and that exquisite feeling of falling felt just as fresh and new - and every bit as exhilarating as the first time.
I'm not even kidding. I take such great joy from Ms. Regnery's books. It's not just the story (though I'll get to that) - it's the way the stories are so smartly and beautifully written. It's the careful phrasing and the clever choice of words. It's not just that the story is so deeply romantic - it's that I stumble upon these fantastic bits of writing that literally cause my eyes to light up and a giant smile to plaster across my face.
What can I say? These books are a word nerd's paradise.
As for the story?

I was sucked in immediately, wrapped up in the intensity of what Mad and Cort felt for each other, and completely charmed by their love story. I have a special place in my heart for every one of Ms. Regnery's heroes (they basically have their own wing at this point), but Cort Ambler? Ugh, you guys. He's...everything. The words that came out of his mouth left me in a swooning puddle of feelsy goo – nearly every time he spoke. He's sensitive and intense and sincere - but he's also this deeply sexy, soulful musician type who made fast work of stealing my heart. He also ensured that I will never look at the harp the same way again.
And while Cort may have stolen the show for me in this book, Mad staked her claim on her own little piece of my heart. I loved her pluckiness, her fierce loyalty to the people she loves, and the way she rallied when her life hit the skids. I loved her interactions with her siblings, and the flashbacks on her childhood relationships that highlighted the fathomless generosity of her heart, and how beautiful she really was, inside and out.
I cannot say enough good things about this book. I adored it. I was captivated by it. I loved every tiny detail, every little side story. There were moments (so many) that took my breath away and - in the end, my sappy romantic heart is so happy and full and so deeply satisfied. ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

Marry Me Mad by Katy Regnery is a fabulous romantic story about family, choices and consequences that some stupid actions have. It's not your simple love story. It's much more. It has depth.
Marry Me Mad is a love story of Madeleine Rousseau and Cortland Ambler . They grew together on the same street but then life took them apart. They met again after many years but fortune has a lot in store for them and sometimes it's too difficult to stay together.
Mad Rousseau is a librarian with big heart. She is full of ideas and she wants to realize them. After her long time boyfriend cheated on her, she is down. But one meeting changes her life.
I liked Mad's charater. For me she was a real role model. A perfect sister any girl could dream about. I loved her loyalty to her family. She is also kind and has such a big heart. A perfect heroine!
Cortland Amber is a musician. And a gifted one. He couldn't forget Mad and now that he met her, he won't let her go. I liked his openness and loyalty. He was ready to keep the secret no matter what and for that he deserves my respect.
Oh and his ability to handle a musical instrument! So hot! Just two words. Harp scene!!!
All in all it was a perfect book. I loved all the emotions, the depth and family matters. I helped me to understand once more how important family is and I loved it.
A must read for everyone!!!

Mad Rousseau is a librarian with big heart. She is full of ideas and she wants to realize them. After her long time boyfriend cheated on her, she is down. But one meeting changes her life.
I liked Mad's charater. For me she was a real role model. A perfect sister any girl could dream about. I loved her loyalty to her family. She is also kind and has such a big heart. A perfect heroine!
Cortland Amber is a musician. And a gifted one. He couldn't forget Mad and now that he met her, he won't let her go. I liked his openness and loyalty. He was ready to keep the secret no matter what and for that he deserves my respect.
Oh and his ability to handle a musical instrument! So hot! Just two words. Harp scene!!!
All in all it was a perfect book. I loved all the emotions, the depth and family matters. I helped me to understand once more how important family is and I loved it.
A must read for everyone!!!

Odd one out here......
First and foremost I have to say that the harp scene is to die for.
Good thinking Ms. Regnery in writing Jax’s book before writing Mad’s book because otherwise I would have had an absolute conniption. I knew why I didn’t like Jax and well now it has just been confirmed.
Mad is Jax’s twin sister, she is the quiet one who for some time has always lived in her sisters shadow.
Mad is a great heroine well she is slightly whiney but who am I to judge? Just a reader. A word of advice to all you ladies never ever date a therapist, they are manipulative, sociopaths and well just not a good idea. Unless you want that person to use all and I mean ALL of your insecurities against you. This happens to Mad and for the final time she calls it quits.
While having a walking pity party, Mad lands in a part of Philly she hasn’t been to before and decides to live by ordering four shots of tequila, drinking them all at once.
“I just threw up… in a bar.” “Yes, you did,” he confirmed, standing in front of her at the foot of the stairs. “Spectacularly.” “Oh God,” she muttered, leaning her forehead on her knees. “The good news is that most of the alcohol probably wasn’t absorbed into your system yet, so you’ll feel much better in a little while.” She sobbed softly, then sniffed. “No lady would throw up at a bar.” “You’re clearly not a lady,” he teased.
That is until she is saved by Cort Ambler. Wow, I am impressed he is a fantastic Hero. He is the broody musician with a heart of gold. He is always doing the right thing even if it ruins the thing he wanted the most. Luckily enough fate gives them a second chance. Cort is an honourable man. He is funny and hits on Mad right from the start.
“I’m not kissing you.”
“You want to though.”
“Merde, you’re cocky.”
But through Cort saving Mad, and them even spending such short time with one another they still don’t want the evening to end.
“Do you drink tea?”
He fucking hated tea. “I’d love some.”
Although I didn’t get it all the drama and why Mad couldn’t have grown a backbone sooner but hey I only have a brother and well things were easily resolved in that department. I’d punch him or call him something quite inventive and then that would have been that. Mad keeps on starting something and then pulls back due to her sister. There is something that is unforgivable and it is Jax’s story to tell. But that is what happens when they get stuck between sisters. See below for the spoiler to the twin sister conundrum.

I found this book to still be quite glossy, I was missing some depth to it. They’d meet up although they had commitments and then would just leave. But it is better than Jonquils for Jax. I also have to ask myself if the author is just writing the books in a quick fashion to just please her readers without any real depth. I know I’m being a cow but I feel as if the quality has lessened.
Either 3 or 4 Stars. Haven't decided quite yet. Review to come.

398.2 STARS!!!!
“Baby, you’re music.”
OMG!!!!! Marry Me Mad is my NEW FAVORITE of Katy’s books. Obviously I need to reread all of the modern fairytales and some Blueberry books to be sure but this is my vote for now. I don’t know how Katy did it but every single book that comes out is incredibly more awesome than the next. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this story so much. I am dying over here Why does it have to end? And where is the epilogue of more music and babies???? No, I actually swooned over the ending but I just need more… PLEASE!!!
Seriously though, this book is not to be missed. I did not read all of the Blueberry series and I am totally kicking myself in the butt. Going back to read Jonquil for Jax ASAP.

Right of the bat, Mad’s life was a crumbling mess – she found herself in Voulez-Vous drowning her sorrow with shots while listening to the melancholy piano of “Le Cygne” playing in the back ground. Turns out the man behind that beautiful music was none other than Cort Ambler – her twin’s sister Jax ex-boyfriend in high school. Cort – the hero that he was, took care of Mad that night. He spent the night comforting her, feeding her, walking her home and even spent the night. Mad had always been in love with Cort when she was younger but he belonged to Jax first. Cort broke her sisters’ heart after prom and Mad swore she would not forgive him for that. A decade later, it seems that fate brought them back together. Mad can’t deny the attraction they have to each other but Mad loves her sister dearly – will she break the ultimate sister code to be with the man she always loves?
What I like about this book? First, this book was beautifully written – absolutely FLAWLESS. The story is the most romantic, emotional, sensual, sweet second chance love story. The characters were portrayed brilliantly. Cort is charming and sweet but the quality that I most admire about him is that he is a man of his word. Mad knows all along that something happened between Jax and Cort but Cort stays true to his promise and will not get in between Mad and her sister. Cort is intense but he is honest, and he is not afraid to tell Mad how he feels. He is a total saint to me – so patient, caring and kind. Also, he is a talented pianist – well … musician, there is nothing sexier than a man that is talented with his hands ... The particular scene of Cort serenading Mad with the harp… Jesus! Never read anything more sensual and sexy
The way he treasured and treated her like something so precious to him just made my ovaries explode over this man - Perfect boyfriend material. ADORE HIM!
Mad is beautiful, funny and smart. She is loyal to her sister even when it costs her own happiness. She wants to give in to Cort’s love but she feels too guilty being happy. She cares for her sister dearly and refuses to cause her pain or heartache. It makes my heart happy to see the love Mad has for all her siblings. She is such a kind hearted and gentle person.
I enjoy a book that focuses entirely on the main characters without so much distraction and this book did just that for me. The first 40% of the book was all about the flirting, intimacy dance between Mad and Cort. It was sweet, sexy and some parts had me smiling ear to ear. You can’t help but get sucked in and wrapped up in their journey. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. I was consumed with this story until the last word written. I can’t praise enough of this book – a picture-perfect, captivating story of first love, second chances, loyalty, forgiveness and hope.

With a lifetime’s worth of want and need, fate bought Mad and Cort together. Is it coincidence or destiny? Will these two souls finally accept that they were meant to be? --- You just have to read and see!
Katy outdone herself. Beautifully written - Sensual, sexy but with a very classy charming feel of a classic romance. The everlasting kind of love that we don’t see often anymore in real life. What a perfect escape!!!

I always look forward to Katy Regnery’s releases, but after getting a preview of Marry Me Mad in the earlier-released Jonquils For Jax, I was DYING to get my hands on this book!
Once again, Katy did not disappoint. I have MAD LOVE ( see what I did there?) for the Rousseau ladies! Even though they grew up in a life of wealth and privilege, Katy gives us a heroine in Madeleine who lives much more modestly than her means. It was absolutely refreshing! Madeleine is down-to-earth and ambitious with her work for the public library system, while also being kind and beautiful. She was a very relatable character.
In Cort Ambler, we have a sexy hero who you’d picture as a struggling musician, if not for the millions in his trust fund. For me, what makes him (arguably) the most swoonworthy hero of Blueberry Lane is his unwavering and unrequited love for Mad since their childhood. It completely endeared him to me, and I just couldn’t wait for him to get his happy ending.
“In the depths of his heart he felt - no, he knew - that the universe had pre-ordained their reunion: that Madeleine Rousseau was meant for him, and he was meant for her, and tonight was just the beginning, the first page of their love story.”
Katy gives us a passionate, angst-filled reunion of childhood friends, estranged after a misunderstanding years before, journeying toward finding their HEA. There are secrets to be revealed and misunderstandings to resolve…all of which compelling me to finish the book in one sitting.
While this book is part of Katy’s beloved Blueberry Lane series, each book can be read as a complete stand-alone. I guarantee that you will be completely swept away by the beautifully written story told from dual POV. You will feel like you are escaping into contemporary romance at its best, but with completely endearing, flawed, and relatable characters. Katy Regnery has written us magic once again, which seems like it would be an impossible feat in the 13th book in the series! Bravo!!!

Sweet and sexy Cort was the perfect boyfriend - handsome, thoughtful, romantic, kind, smart, rich, and multi-talented in every room. Plus, he likes animals and writes music - swoon. Katy Regnery writes sweet, tender, delightful, and steamy romances. She never fails to steal my breath, squeeze my heart, or steam up my kindle. Sigh. I adore her winsome characters, they may be rich and cultured, but they also know how to let loose and sling clever snark, amusing humor, and invectives when needed.

A visit to Blueberry Lane is always a treat. Katy Regnery has infused this delightful set of series (it started as one, the English Brothers then quickly expanded to the neighboring families on Blueberry Lane) with her trademark mix of sweet and sensual romance and engaging characters. Marry Me Mad is the second book that features the Rousseau family, and pairs Madeleine with former neighborhood boy Cortlandt Ambler. It is concurrent in timeline to the first in the Rousseau series, Jonquils for Jax, but all the stories are easily read as standalones and if you haven’t read Mad’s twin sister Jax’s story, you’ll want to pick up that one as well because it is equally delightful.
Mad has come to the bitter realization that her boyfriend of three years has been cheating on her, a fact she’d known but denied in her heart of hearts until confronted with the undeniable truth. On what’s supposed to be a happy day, having received a promotion at her library job to focus on more children’s programming, she finds herself instead in a bar, drawn in by the strains of classical music being played. Inside she is confronted by her past, in the form of Cortlandt Ambler. Growing up on Blueberry Lane together, they’d been in each other’s circles as children. One particular spring when they were teenagers, she’d come home from Paris to discover Cort and her twin sister Jax were dating, a short-lived affair that ended quickly with a public breakup instigated by Jax. Never doubting her sister’s word on what had transpired, Mad stood up for her, hating this young man who had hurt her sister. In truth, she’d had a crush on Cort before, but had pushed down those feelings when he dated her sister and now, seeing him again after a ten-year absence, they come rushing to the surface.
Cort can’t believe that the girl he once had feelings for is finally back in his sights again. Granted, she looks miserable and the tequila she’s drinking isn’t going to help. Two months of awkward dating between Jax and Cort ended in a spectacularly public fashion with Cort giving Jax leeway to dissolve their relationship for whatever reason she wanted. For her part, Mad had put her own feelings for Cort aside when her sister appeared to be happy with him, and when he hurt her (or so it appeared), Mad was determined that he’d be out of her life for good. But now, he’s not that same teenaged boy.
Cort is an accomplished classical musician, well known in concert hall circles. He plays at smaller clubs and larger venues, and has a bit of a playboy air about him with his tattoos and devil may care attitude. Yet he shows her a gentleness and tender heart that prove he’s not the man she thought he was.

In the end, this couple finds their path to a happy ever after ending and leaves some hints as to what’s to come for more of the residents of Blueberry Lane. Like all of Katy’s stories, it will leave you with a smile and a heartfelt sigh for another happy couple finding their path to true love.

He plays at smaller clubs and larger venues, and has a bit of a playboy air about him with his tattoos and devil may care attitude. Yet he shows her a gentleness and tender heart that prove he’s not the man she thought he was.
Madeleine is torn by her feelings for Cort, who clearly desires any kind of relationship she’s willing to give him, and her guilt over being with him behind Jax’s back. But her guilt is not enough to hold her back from giving in to Cort’s passionate embrace and the result is some very steamy love scenes between the couple. Cort presses Mad to clear the air with Jax so they can be together publicly but Mad is reluctant to bring up something she believes was so painful for her sister. But she soon realizes that she’s at risk of forfeiting her own happiness if she doesn’t take this chance to be with Cort. In the end, this couple finds their path to a happy ever after ending and leaves some hints as to what’s to come for more of the residents of Blueberry Lane. Like all of Katy’s stories, it will leave you with a smile and a heartfelt sigh for another happy couple finding their path to true love.

2.5 to 3 stars. I like the Blueberry Lane series, although I've been reading them a bit out of order. This isn't the best one in the series, though.
I liked both the H, Cort Ambler, a musician, and the h, Mad Rousseau, a children's librarian. Cort and Mad were attracted to each other as teens, then accidentally bump into each other years later. Mad is at a low point, having dumped her cheater boyfriend, and trying to drown her sorrows in a dive bar. Cort happens to be playing piano there that night. He recognises Mad, and helps her survive her drunk-fest. Their attraction flares up again immediately, and their romance happens really fast. They fall in love within a few days, although supposedly they were pretty much in love as teens. but if so, it's a bit of a stretch that they didn't reach out to each other for years.
And there it is. It's the plot that annoyed me in this book. Cort went out with Mad's twin sister Jax for a couple of months when they were teens, and then there was an ugly breakup, or at least on Jax's part, which, Mad being her twin, was the side of things she saw. But it seems there was more to Cort and Jax's teen romance than meets the eye, and it was secretly Mad that Cort wanted all the time. And the breakup in fact wasn't as ugly as Mad thought.
But Mad gets totally hung up on it. Supposedly, there is a 'rule', or girl code' that you don't go out with an ex-boyfriend of your sister. WTAH?? I'm a girl. I've got two sisters. Um, no. It's not a rule. Sure, it might be a bit awkward initially, but if the first relationship was pretty meaningless, and it was TEN YEARS AGO, then surely we've all grown up a bit and moved on???
But this was the basic plot device of the whole book. I love you but we can't be together (ugly cry) because you went out for a little while with my sister TEN YEARS AGO and never even had sex with her but it's still against the rules. Oh, how tragic. GET OVER IT GUYS! This frustrated me through the whole book. To me, waayyy too much was made out of the past relationship between Jax and Cort. It started to feel like a high school teen romance drama, and I kept wishing the characters would act a little more grown-up. Sigh. Rant over.
Well, rant almost over. There was one other thing I didn't like in the book. The 'c' word is used at least 3 times in casual reference to 'ladyparts'. Um, NO. Not in this kind of book. In a motorcycle club book maybe, but a romance between a pianist/harpist and a children's librarian? Way to take me out of the romantic sexy scene and shock me into something far more coarse and vulgar. Surely Ms Regnery can find a different term or euphemism to use? The tone of this series is overall of sweet and sexy romance, and a word like that has no place there IMO.
Oh well, I still like the series overall, and I did like this book to an extent, partly because of its interconnectedness with the other books and characters. Marry Me Mad is the latest addition to Katy Regnery’s Blueberry Lane series and OMG, she has done it again! This is the 26th novel written by Ms. Regnery (I have read every single one of them), and to be honest I continue to be absolutely flabbergasted by her writing, her characters, and the amazing worlds she creates. She persistently outdoes herself story after story continuously bringing my love for her romances to new heights each and every time.
Cort and Mad have known each other since they were children, growing up together on Blueberry Lane. Despite never making it known to the other, they both always felt a draw and connection to the other. But after spending the Spring of their senior year over-imbibing on alcohol, Cort makes an ill-fated mistake and ultimately places a gap between them that seems irreparable. Now ten years later after suffering an appalling strike to her life, Mad unexpectedly runs into Cort, the last person she would ever want to see in her state of mind. Cort’s feelings for Mad have forever run deep and with the goodness that is his very soul he finds it virtually impossible to turn away from her, despite the years that have passed and the hurt that has kept them apart. But finally seeing each other again rejuvenates the love Cort has always felt for Mad and as he offers her his assistance and support, the connection she has always felt for him reignites as well. But remembering the circumstances that surrounded their past forces Mad to continue to fight her deep-seated feelings for Cort. Will she ever find her way to overcoming the past and give in to the love their hearts were meant to share forever?
One of the really fun things I enjoyed about Marry Me Mad is that the timeline of Cort and Mad’s story crosses over with Jonquils for Jax, and I must admit I really loved that. Another is the undying loyalty both Mad and Cort exhibited, from prior promises that could not be broken and unyielding faithfulness to family, not to mention Cort's chivalry and deep down respect for Mad that touched my heart and soul to the core. When they finally see each other again, despite their obvious mutual attraction, as well as Cort's deeply undeniable need to sear his lips to hers, he remains the gentleman that is truly deep within him in spite of the 'bad boy' image. But when they both can no longer fight their feelings, their souls ignite and sparks begin to fly giving us some hot undeniable passion that virtually set my iPad aflame.
With Marry Me Mad, Katy Regnery again takes me on a journey delivering another fantastic romance. I fall in love with her characters time and again, and Mad and Cort are no different. Each and every story introduces me to characters who feel as though they have become my friends as they always touch me deeply and as with every one of Ms. Regnery’s stories in this series, I will surely miss spending time on Blueberry Lane.

Katy Regnery does it again!
I swear she has some witchy magic going on because she knows just how to get you hooked on the characters from the start so you can’t stop reading until they get their very well deserved HEA.
I loved Cort. It’s really that simple. On the outside he looks like the ultimate bad boy and yet he has a sensitive soul. He’s sweet, charming, wickedly sexy and has determination in spades. Of course him being a musician made him that much sexier. I mean the ability to play almost any instrument and conjure up a melody or lyrics without batting an eye is a huge turn on. Huge.
Mad and I had an interesting relationship and one that I’m still working out which side of the line she’ll settle on, but for the most part I liked her. She’s at a crossroads in her life where she is questioning the decisions she’s made and herself, so she’s a bit rattled and is tossed into a firestorm that she never saw coming. I loved her passion for her career and her loyalty to her family, but her tendency to put herself and her desires second to those of others had me wanting to reach out and shake her.
When Cort and Mad were together and just being together it was a beautiful thing and showed how well matched they were. They saw each other’s souls and appreciated and respected who the other was. The chemistry between them was smexy as all get out. But Mad’s constant 180’s got tiring. Now before anyone jumps down my throat, I’m all for the “girl code” and “sister code”, I am, and I do understand why she was hesitant, but there is a limit to my understanding and Mad unfortunately reached that limit. Had Cort not come as clean as he could about what happened between him and Jax when they were 17, I’d feel differently, but he did and made it clear she needed to talk to her twin about what happened and why. Despite my irritation over that, I was very happy with how things ended up, though I do wish Mad had vented a little more on her ex.
Marry Me Mad runs parallel to Jonquils for Jax and while I will always push for a series to be read in order, you can read it as a standalone. I’m not all too sure how I feel about J.C. but I’m definitely looking forward to watching him being brought to his knees!

This time around, in MARRY ME MAD (The Rousseaus, book 2) we have Cortlandt Ambler, the broodingly sexy, edgy musician with the sensitive soul still carrying a secret torch for Madeleine Rousseau, the sweet, sassy librarian he has secretly loved since the tender age of 13. And when these two neighbors, who grew up together on Blueberry Lane, cross paths again the end result is a combustible, heart throbbing tale that left this besotted reader in a state of starry eyed bliss!
What I love about the long-running Blueberry Lane series is that the author often brings our couples together in the most magical and enchanting ways. Last time, in JONQUILS FOR JAX, we had the majestic backdrop of a Moonlit Garden, and in this book, the classical notes of an aching melody reunites our lovelorn duo together.
Mad Rousseau hadn't seen her teenage crush, Cort, in 10 long years, but she’d never forgotten him. Now, as luck would have it, on the worst night of her life, when she’d finally gotten stone cold proof of her philandering, high-browed boyfriend's betrayal, she found herself in front of Voulez-Vous, a Point Breeze dive bar. All it took was one soul-shattering phone call for her cherished fantasy of a grand home in the suburbs and a gaggle of happy children to go up in smoke. What ensues is a hot, tempestuous, forbidden romance that burns so bright it made this reader quiver in delight! IMO, this book is by far the most sizzling hot in the series! So torrid in fact you may need a fan to cool off! (especially during that off the charts HARP SCENE!) The chemistry between Mad and Cort is electrifying, their scenes are fueled with fiery discord and smoldering tension, and their erotic encounters are combustible!!!! But as is this author's MO, the love scenes are always churning with searing emotion, and the romance and sensuality flow perfectly in tandem like chords of a beautiful melody.
Once again, the romantic development between the couple is masterfully layered, poignant and bristling with raw intensity. Cort had always had a quiet adoration and fascination for Mad and now he was elated at the thought of unraveling all her beautiful mysteries.
“She was proper yet provocative. Angelic but arousing. Sophisticated and sexy” and he was determined to get to know the sexy, hot, passionate woman under the cool, polished veneer. Meanwhile, Cort not only proved to be a true gentleman but a hot, passionate lover who lavished Mad with love and affection beyond her wildest dreams. After being in an unhappy relationship with an unfaithful jerk, she she’d forgotten this feeling of falling for someone—of feeling admired. Alive. Electric. Aroused.
All of Ms. Regnery’s heroes are ultra-dreamy, but Cort gives new definition to the term swoonworthy! He has that “BAD BOY” musician vibe going for him and is the perfect combo of hot tempered alpha and gentle, doting lover. I adored his “caveman-style protective instincts” and his single-minded desire to make her his…but at the same time I cherished his sweet, endearingly tender side as well. Even though Mad's waffling back and forth and indecision DID frustrate me at times, I reveled in their romantic chemistry, and I got where she was coming from. Mad was a woman very much divided between sisterly loyalty and forever love and she would ultimately have to decide whether she was “willing to accept a half-full life when the promise of a full-to-bursting life awaited.”
I won’t say how it all works out but the romantic reunion was a CLASSIC one that gave me delicious goose bumps! Ultimately, MARRY ME MAD is a heady Blueberry Lane confection overflowing with breathtaking romance, soulful music, fiery lust, a touch of angst, and spirited family drama involving the feisty Rousseaus and “black sheep” Amblers! Kudos to Katy Regnery for striking gold yet again with this feel-good romance that left me positively giddy!

Kudos to Katy Regnery for striking gold yet again with this feel-good romance that left me positively giddy!

This story was so cute. I have loved all of Katy’s Blueberry Lane kids. We met Mad in Jax’s story, her twin. These two were very funny together and leaned on each other during their rough times. However in Mad’s story she keeps quiet when she is in pain. When she puts all of her finance’s stories together and realizes she may have been played for a fool. Going in to a bar/pub, she runs into an old friend.
Cort is making his living making music in a band. He is making his way in the world when he is knocked on his butt by the lovely Mad. He pursues her only to be pushed away repeatly because of their past. After Mad gets over their past and how she felt betrayed when she realizes they are meant for each other, they need each other.
It was a sweet story and having scenes overlap each other from Jax’s story was a good way to show Mad’s point of view while Jax was going through her romantic issues.
Cort is making his living making music in a band. He is making his way in the world when he is knocked on his butt by the lovely Mad. He pursues her only to be pushed away repeatly because of their past. After Mad gets over their past and how she felt betrayed when she realizes they are meant for each other, they need each other.

Madeleine Rousseau's night started out as one of her worst, but turned into magical and life changing one. Her attempt at forgetting pain inflicted by her soon-to-be ex leads her into a bar with a seductive, tatted, piano player who happens to be someone she used to know. Cort Ambler...the boy she grew up with, who she had a crush on, who dated her twin, and broke her heart.
Cort is protective, understanding, and kind to her, but is off limits! She needs to deal with her break up, but more importantly there is the sister code she can't break. Cort has had feelings for Mad since they were teens, but screwed it up by dating her sister and hurting her. She she has always been the girl he compares every woman to. The were a young love story with potential that was never realized due to a cluster of events and missed opportunities.
Now they have intense chemistry and a magnetic pull that can't be denied. He gets her--understands that she projects this prim and proper librarian facade, but underneath she has fire and a bit of a wild side. Most everyone sees her as the sweet, dependable sister and Jax as the sassy, spirited one. He is determined to finally get his chance with Mad, but she is loyal to her sister and is plagued by guilt. She is dealing with life changes, and has trust issues and insecurities. But Cort is adamant that they can make this work and that they are meant to be.
Even as he begins to show her that they could be good together, there are barriers and a time limit. Her worries and issues are not going to just disappear by ignoring them. But Mad is scared to face them and risk hurting her sister. And she still has to deal with her ex as well. But her denial and indecisiveness just keeps hurting her and Cort.
Will Mad find the will to stand up and fight for Cort, or are they destined to be kept apart again?
I absolutely adored Cort. He is down-to-Earth, hot, loving, and romantic. His unwavering care and devotion to Mad touched my heart. He looks like a bad boy, but has a heart of gold. Mad is caring and likable, but her fear and indecisiveness frustrated me at times. But this is also Mad's journey of figuring out who she is, who she wants to be, and what she really needs. And there are some secrets that have not been fully revealed. So it is all a process.
This takes place in the same time frame as Jonquils for Jax so there is a bit of overlap in events. We get more with her siblings J.C., Ten, and Jax, as well as Cort's sister, Sloane. I swear that this series and the spin-offs are addicting. One page and I am sucked back into this extended group of family and friends, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. These stories bring on the feels and the characters have such strong chemistry. This is a delightful, charming, sexy, and heartwarming second chance love story with just the right amount of tension and drama.
I am looking forward to more in this extended series with more of the families and also the last one in this sub-series, J.C. Rousseau in J.C. and the Bijoux Jolis.

I'm struggling to find the words to do this story justice in my review. So I came up with this hashtag:

Katy Regnery has this way to suck you into a world and get lost in the characters. It's everything I expect in my preferred reading genre. And Marry Me Mad does not disappoint. Ms. Regnery continues the readers journey around Blueberry Lane with a stop at the Rousseaus. First with Jax and now twin Madeline's story. What I love best about the Rousseaus books? Each one has felt real and relatable. Yes, they may have money to support their dreams. But things like that naughty feeling, jealousy, can lead to misunderstanding and reactions that us mere mortals battle. And our hero, Cort, oh my swoonworthy! The reader can feel how hopelessly, deeply and heartbreaking in love he is with Mad. In everyday things, she is first for him.
This is just one of several simple lines that had me laugh then swoon. Because wow - just wow! this character had me at:
Now, here where I leave the script from my normal recommendations. Don't worry I'm still a staunch believer in "do not series hop". Yes, this story is written in the same timeline as Book #1: Jax's story. But really. If you have never read a Katy Regnery Blueberry Lane book, you can pick this story up, get immersed and never feel like you are missing out. Surprised to say - this book can standalone. However, if you don't go back through the Englishes, Winslows and Jax's story after finishing, color me surprised. For all the readers who've read Katy before, this story doesn't not fail us and makes us fall deeper in love with her talent.

5 in-love stars!!! Another add to the favorites list. I was hooked after the first tequila shot!
Mad (Jax from the first book's twin sister) is the button up kinda stubby type. She has just gotten a promotion at the library and decides to call her psychotherapist boyfriend, Thatcher, with the good news. Except all the news she gets is that his assistant answers and thinks it room service. Ok that's all good, but she wants strawberries and champagne and, well, Thatcher is in the shower. Ha. So needless to say Thatcher is a cheating scum bag. Off to the bar to drink herself stupid and when she walks past one and hears the most beautiful music being made. Four tequila shots later, a hot musician, and wait four shots?!?! Yea she is puking....haha. The whole day has been awful until Cory "freaking" Ambler saves the day. Yea her sister ex boyfriend...he is very hot. And well Mad isn't all that she seems....
Cort has had one girl that he has secretly crushed on since he was 13. Oh boy did fate strike this night when he looks over and finds that beautiful woman in the same place as he. Problem is she isn't looking to good and someone has broken her heart. Cort will fix that and finally get his shot. Wait did he really think he would get a shot with the twin of the girl he embarrassed and dumped in front of everyone?!?!
I absolutely LOVE this book. Jax grabbed my heart with the last book and I loved me some Gard but Cort is the man!! Mad and Cort is such a heart breaking and lovely love story. I could feel his emotions for her with every page, I don't even think she realized what he held for her. I loved the banter and the real Mad. Not the pretentious Mad from previous, I love the girl in sweats!!
"It will always be you" was the line that made my heart flutter. Oh man I loved this book. Katy made me believe in these two. I was willing to fight for this. I am glad things happened as they did and like always I love everyone on Blueberry Lane. I have not got a chance to read all their stories though I have a large chunk of them already bought I have caught pieces of them and she does such a good job intertwining them. This is a must read!!

When love is unconditional, the love story is exquisite...
... Marry Me Mad is the second book about the Rousseau's of Blueberry Lane, or the third if you want to include Étienne Rousseau's romance with Kate English.
I went into it expecting a great read, because, of course I've loved each one of Katy Regenery's books and I really wanted to know how life dealt with the other Rousseau's (yes, Étienne and Kate's book had been my favorite Blueberry Lane book so far). What I discovered was a perfect gem of a story that ticks all the boxes as far as every girl's dream of finding a soulmate goes.
A man who loves unconditionally, constantly, gently and without ever causing any hurt, even when he is ostensibly being rejected at the altar of greater loyalty to another relationship. That is Cort Ambler for you. If he weren't so hot and earthy, you would almost think he cannot be just another fallible human. But Cort has made very human mistakes - mistakes that have cost him the love of the only girl he has ever loved.
Madeleine has seen first hand how infidelity destroyed her mother’s marriage to her father, how it caused her mother untold pain. Yet she has continued in just such a relationship for three years. When things come to a head, she breaks down in public in a bar. She is in no condition to take care of herself. To her rescue comes her twin's old boyfriend - someone she has hated for the way he broke her sister's heart.
Situations do not come anymore complicated. Sure, life's a bitch. And yet a love worth fighting for can be the answer to all questions. It can build you up, restore your self-esteem, and be the source of gentle nourishment that can give a girl courage to fight life's battles.
Ms. Regenery has incredible character development skills. And her writing brings the conflicted characters to stunning life. As I read the book, it was like watching an exceptionally well made film in my mind - so readable is the story and vivid the writing.
This book is definitely on my reread list.

Ever since finishing JONQUILS FOR JAX, I could not wait to read MARRY ME MAD. Both books share the same timeframe, beginning a week after the wedding of Etienne Rousseau to Kate English. This is book 13 in the Blueberry Lane Series, but only number 2 in the Rousseau's Series. You could read them all singularly, or the entire series, but each book would be a delight with Katy Regnery's wonderful writing.
This is Madeleine Rousseau's (Mad) story. She was the twin sister of Jax Rousseau from the book Jonquils for Jax. Mad had been with Dr. Thatcher Worthington for three long years. Thatcher who Mad was planning to marry as soon as he got around to asking, but was very likely cheating on her. Mad was delusional in believing that Thatcher was “forever” and a beautiful. romantic forever. When reality hit home, and Mad realized that her boyfriend was “not” faithful and was “not” destined to be her devoted husband, what was she to do?
She walked until she entered a dive bar named Voulez-Vous. Where, low and behold, she found Cortlandt Ambler a “crush” from her past. That was until he dated her twin sister Jax. Cort thought it was a mirage when he saw Mad sitting in the bar where he was playing piano. There was a connection between them, positive or negative, a connection between them, then and now. Such a beautiful and heartwarming story
This is the 2nd book in the Blueberry Lane 3 series, each book can be read as a stand alone, but I don't recommend it. Each book adds to the story of the others.
This story is just what romance is made from or should be. Two people who are their own person, but a united front, when necessary. I loved this book! These two deserve each other. They've earned their happiness, and the love that eventuates in their life.

As I Sit Here Writing This Review My First Thought Is Who Else Is Katy Regnery Hiding On Blueberry Lane.
With each new couple we meet and with each new series the couples become that more Amazing.
In Marry Me Mad we meet Cort Ambler and Madeline Rousseau. Friends from the time they were young from families that all lived on Blueberry Lane but with lives that have gone in different directions.
Cort becomes a very well known musician and Mad becomes a women who loves everything that has to do with the library but when circumstances has her meeting Cort again the pull is undeniable.
Can past issues between the two change everything about the future. As with each page turn you are cheering on this couple and hoping that whatever obstacles are in their way they can overcome them and find there HEA that they both truly deserve.
If you are looking for a series not only a book that will
Leave you with that heartwarming feeling then this is the one you will not want to miss.

I loved Jonquils for Jax.
I really liked Marry Me Mad!
Both books are part of The Rousseau Series but both can be read as standalone. These two books are beautiful in different kind of way that readers will surely enjoy. While Jonquils for Jax is enchantingly sweet, Marry Me Mad is delictably hot. Forget the sweetness of Jonquils for Jax for a while because this book is more spice than sweetness and Katy delivered them well. And oh my gosh. CORT. The banters between him and Mad brought a lot of smiles on my face. I was surprised most of the times because I kinda found myself smiling more times than I can count. And if you want a sexy read with humor and wit, you won't be disappointed. My favorite is the harp scene. You got to read the book to find out. It's one of the hottest scene I've ever read in a romance books. Katy leveled up the hotness and I bet most of the readers will love it!
In Marry Me Mad, I instantly fell in love with Cort. Knowing he's an Ambler who are known to be the blacksheep of the Blueberry Lane, added more allure to the personality of this thoughtful, beautiful, and talented soul. Here is a tattooed man who plays piano and harp and has the kindest and the softest of hearts.
Madeleine Rousseau or Mad for short, is Jax's twin sister. If you already read Jonquils for Jax, then you know that Jax is the sassy one, the socialite twin, the popular award winning producer in Hollywood and the opposite of Mad. Mad is a librarian, the gentle, sweet and pristine Rousseau sister. But underneath her proper clothes and elegant pearls is a wild woman waiting to be unleashed.
I had a glimpse of Mad and Cort in Jonquils for Jax but I didn't see the real Mad until this book. I know she was the sweet sister... the one who always there for you when you need someone to talk to. She's the listener who lives in the shadow of Jax, but deep inside she has sass and spice which made Cort love her more.
I think that one of the highlights for me while reading this book is when I realized that many of us can actually relate to Mad. There is always something inside of us, no matter what our exteriors show to everyone else, that is hidden and waiting to be free. I kinda envy Mad for having Cort--passionate and loving and who knows the real her, appreciate her and embrace her wholly. I fall for Cort as well, more and more throughout the story.
Marry Me Mad is like a second chance kind of book for me since Cort and Mad have loved each other since they were little but never had their chance until they meet after ten years or so. It is a story about two soulmates who are destined to love each other, but they needed time to grow separately and learn how to fight for true love and their happiness. It shows that some childhood feelings that is kept hidden through the years, when watered, sometimes makes the best kind of love. It can be a beautiful fairytale. Mad and Cort have that kind of fairytale.
Though I still love Jonquils for Jax better than Marry Me Mad, this book is all love. For a girl who is a sucker for Happily-Ever-After, Katy Regnery's books is always a go to. I think this is her forte. She always give beautiful endings. It's like a sweet escape from all the ugliness in life and it makes you believe that fairytales can still do happen.
Will I recommend this book? YES. Will I still read the next story? So freaking YES. Now, I am looking forward to J.C.'s story!

Both books are part of The Rousseau Series but both can be read as standalone. These two books are beautiful in different kind of way that readers will surely enjoy. While Jonquils for Jax is enchantingly sweet, Marry Me Mad is delictably hot. It’s official, I am totally hooked to Katy’s beautiful writing, gorgeous characters & the happily ever-afters that fairy tales are made of.
Marry Me Mad is #2 in the Blueberry Lane 3 – The Rousseaus. It is Madeline’s story & straddles the same time frame as Jonquils for Jax, which I loved as it gave answers to questions I never knew I even had, as well as pulling me further into this captivating family.
Mad Rousseau - beautiful, shy & super sweet is what most see, yet underneath that adorable skin, is a fiery vixen trying to escape. She is the younger twin to Jax & to be honest she’s lived mostly in her sister’s shadow – not that she minds, or complains, but she isn’t the Hollywood Producer with fans falling all over her – no, she is a Children’s Librarian – happily following her dreams.
Against her better judgement, she finds herself in a toxic relationship she needs to escape, it’s stripped her of her confidence, her spark & passion for life. When events unfold that seal the fate of her future, getting drunk seems to hold the key to forgetting. It’s there late at night, in the seedier part of Philly, the pull of piano notes drags her from her daze & into the bar the reminds her of home. It’s in this bar she falls hard & fast into the eyes of the boy she has loved since she was young, the very boy who broke her sisters heart – she still hates him. Or so she tries to convince herself.
Cort Ambler, seriously this man is the real deal. Hot, sexy & tattooed, but with the deepest, saddest heart you can imagine. He has carried so many regrets, for so much of his life, that his raw honestly truly broke my heart. He has only ever had two true loves - music & Madeline Rousseau. Young & stupid sealed his fate with Mad, she hates him & he has been forever helpless to change that due to a promise he made, so his life has been filled with music. It’s that music that has him playing in one of his favourite bars & it’s that music, that speaks to the woman sat alone in the corner, the one who stole his heart along with his dreams. When his eyes fall on Mad, he can’t help but hope – hope that wrongs can be made right & that dreams can come true.
From the very start my heart was pulled in every direction. I hurt for Mad & the woman she had become, knowing from experience that sometimes the hardest lesson is finding your self-worth from the darkness it has been lost too. It broke into a million pieces for Cort, the man who loved fiercely & with every ounce of his existence, even when faced with rejection, his bravery to fight for what wanted – for the future he so desperately longed for, blew me away.
Katy through her character development & magic with words yet again, allowed me to absorb myself in their world & experience yet another rainbow of emotions. Sprinkled with the whispered words in French – the words I can’t imagine not having in my heart now & the sweetest feeling of joy come the end, I can truly say that even though their journey was hard, it was one I will remember with a gentle sigh & a smile full of sunshine, knowing that true love really does stand the test of time.
Another beautiful 5 stars read from me. Now I just have to wait very impatiently for #3 – ugh.

Marry Me Mad is the latest addition to Katy Regnery’s Blueberry Lane series and OMG, she has done it again! This is the 26th novel written by Ms. Regnery (I have read every single one of them), and to be honest I continue to be absolutely flabbergasted by her writing, her characters, and the amazing worlds she creates. She persistently outdoes herself story after story continuously bringing my love for her romances to new heights each and every time.
Cort and Mad have known each other since they were children, growing up together on Blueberry Lane. Despite never making it known to the other, they both always felt a draw and connection to the other. But after spending the Spring of their senior year over-imbibing on alcohol, Cort makes an ill-fated mistake and ultimately places a gap between them that seems irreparable. Now ten years later after suffering an appalling strike to her life, Mad unexpectedly runs into Cort, the last person she would ever want to see in her state of mind. Cort’s feelings for Mad have forever run deep and with the goodness that is his very soul he finds it virtually impossible to turn away from her, despite the years that have passed and the hurt that has kept them apart. But finally seeing each other again rejuvenates the love Cort has always felt for Mad and as he offers her his assistance and support, the connection she has always felt for him reignites as well. But remembering the circumstances that surrounded their past forces Mad to continue to fight her deep-seated feelings for Cort. Will she ever find her way to overcoming the past and give in to the love their hearts were meant to share forever?
One of the really fun things I enjoyed about Marry Me Mad is that the timeline of Cort and Mad’s story crosses over with Jonquils for Jax, and I must admit I really loved that. Another is the undying loyalty both Mad and Cort exhibited, from prior promises that could not be broken and unyielding faithfulness to family, not to mention Cort's chivalry and deep down respect for Mad that touched my heart and soul to the core. When they finally see each other again, despite their obvious mutual attraction, as well as Cort's deeply undeniable need to sear his lips to hers, he remains the gentleman that is truly deep within him in spite of the 'bad boy' image. But when they both can no longer fight their feelings, their souls ignite and sparks begin to fly giving us some hot undeniable passion that virtually set my iPad aflame.
With Marry Me Mad, Katy Regnery again takes me on a journey delivering another fantastic romance. I fall in love with her characters time and again, and Mad and Cort are no different. Each and every story introduces me to characters who feel as though they have become my friends as they always touch me deeply and as with every one of Ms. Regnery’s stories in this series, I will surely miss spending time on Blueberry Lane.

Madeline “Mad” Rousseau’s not having a good night, and the dive bar she finds seems as good a place as any to drown her sorrows. Running into her former neighbor and childhood crush was not what she expected when she heard the French music from the street. But it doesn’t matter how nice Cort makes her feel, he is absolutely off limits. As her twin sister’s boyfriend in high school, there are lines that cannot be crossed in Mad’s mind. She can never have Cort, or Jax would be heartbroken.
They have an immediate chemistry and Cort is absolutely swoon-y. But Madeline refuses to cross any lines with Cort because of the relationship he had with her sister in high school, and their ugly breakup only makes Mad more determined to keep things from escalating with Cort. These two just get each other. They have so many similarities as they get to know each other as adults. But Cort and Jax in high school continues to to get in the way, despite Cort’s assertions that Jax wouldn’t mind, that Mad really needs to talk to Jax, because there is more to their breakup than Cort is willing to share, secrets he keeps for Jax.
There were times I wished she could have talked with Jax to sort out what Cort was protecting, but at the same time, the tension created because of that secret was a perfect driving force for a lot of the drama in the story. I’m not a big fan of drama caused by miscommunication, but this wasn’t a miscommunication, this was Cort being loyal to a promise he had made, no matter the repercussions.
So much of this story felt dreamy and romantic as they navigated their relationship. The pull between them defied logic, tempted fate. Their shared love of music played a large role in some of my favorite scenes from the book.
Marry Me Mad takes place during the same time period as Jonquils for Jax, and sheds light on what Mad was doing in the background. The side characters are those readers have come to love throughout this extended series with the most input from the Rousseau siblings. It doesn’t take long and I am back in the Blueberry Lane world. All these characters are so unique and their stories are as different as each of them.
This was a sweet, fun return to Blueberry Lane. I love the way I quickly sink back into the world and don’t want to leave with each new book that I read.
