The food and drink federation of IBEC has criticised the Boots retail chain for what the federation has called its failure to make a significant contribution to the Irish economy.

The federation says Boots has delisted a number of Irish suppliers from its Irish stores and has decided instead to source more produce directly from the UK.

The group wants the government to seek a commitment from Boots and other UK retailers operating here, that key decisions regarding the Irish market will be taken in Ireland and that supply from Irish companies will be encouraged.
