Austin has come out on top in a study of large U.S. cities with the fastest-growing economies, according to a comprehensive study by WalletHub.

WalletHub, a personal finance company, compared the socioeconomic strengths of more than 500 U.S. communities to put together its study. The result: a look at how U.S. cities have performed since the Great Recession that began in 2008. The WalletHub rankings are based on key metrics from 2008-2014, including population growth and the rate of decrease in unemployment, among other factors.

Austin topped all large cities with a cumulative score of 67.91. Two other Texas cities — Fort Worth and Corpus Christi — are in the top five on the large-city rankings — at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. Also in the top five are Miami, Florida, at No. 2, and Denver, Colorado, at No. 4.

When the study compiles the rankings with cities of all sizes, Austin still cracks the top 10 at No. 9 and Round Rock came in at No. 10. In that ranking, nine of the top 10 cities are in Texas, led by Odessa at No. 1. See the full WalletHub report here.
