4th worker death in year at Danville Goodyear plant
A fourth Goodyear worker has died within a calendar year at its plant in Danville.The latest death occurred early Friday morning, according to a statement from Goodyear. Danville police told WSLS they went to the plant on a report of an industrial accident.The worker hasn't been identified.Goodyear's statement continued below:"Goodyear’s on-site emergency response team, as well as local emergency personnel responded immediately, and all parties are cooperating in the investigation into the root cause of the incident. Goodyear has reported the incident to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and will fully cooperate with the organization. Our hearts go out to the family, friends and co-workers of the employee during this very difficult time."All four deaths have occurred since August 31, 2015, and two took place within a two-week period this past spring. OSHA fined Goodyear nearly $17,000 following Jeanie Strader's death last year, and the plant closed for three days following Greg Cooper's death in April.
