`Bridging research and practice´
We are happy to announce the 9th VELUX Daylight Symposium will take place from 15 to 19 November 2021 as a series of live digital events under the theme `Bridging research and practice´.
The Symposium encourages sharing of scientific knowledge and practical applications by interlinking disciplines that are usually addressed in separated spheres and professional circles.
Since the first event in 2005, the following of topics have been explored; defining a common language, daylight and learning, daylight and legislation, healthy living, energy use + health, daylight in a human perspective, new eyes on existing buildings, daylight as driver of change and healthy and climate-friendly architecture.

Call for submissions to 2021 symposium
We are inviting you to submit an abstract for a presentation related to the following topics:
- New knowledge, innovation and applications of daylight with focus on increased benefits for people and the environment
- Sharing best architectural daylighting practice considering; spaces for the light to inhabit and the awareness of – and contact to – natural surroundings
- Tools, metrics, legislation and rating systems; how to specify and evaluate the daylight quality and performance of buildings in the future
- The role of daylight under pandemics and beyond
Please send an abstract (max. 500 words) of your presentation to thedaylightsite@velux.com.
Deadline for submissions on 30 June 2021.
All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the symposium’s scientific committee:

Depending on the situation, symposium presenters may be invited to travel to studio locations, from where the event will be broadcasted live.
