Aaaaahhhhh, real millennials!!!

Nickelodeon announced this month that the network’s most iconic shows from the ‘90s — a bygone era of Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Kenan & Kel, and dozens more nostalgic titles cherished by millennials — will find new life with the launch of The Splat, a new “destination” that’s something between a TV network, a web site, and a heavy social media presence with copious Nick-related emoji.

The great ‘90s experiment now has a launch date: Monday, Oct. 5, with its first block of programming scheduled to air on TeenNick.

Presently, the series slate consists of All That, Angry Beavers, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, CatDog, Clarissa Explains It All, Hey Arnold!, Hey Dude, Kenan & Kel, Ren & Stimpy, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Rocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, Salute Your Shorts, and The Wild Thornberrys. (More tidbits for your DVR: Oct. 12 is Reptar week on Rugrats, and Oct. 19 will focus on Stoop Kid-centric episodes of Hey Arnold!)

Perhaps most importantly, the TV block will include the return of retro programming stunts like U-Pick, Super Toy Run, and, just in time for Halloween, Nick or Treat, which is arguably the greatest virtual trick-or-treating experience to ever air on television. The week of Oct. 26, callers can once again phone in and make their way down a poorly computer-animated neighborhood in the hopes of winning wonderful prizes (although one must imagine that Super Soakers, Game Gears, and lifetime supplies of Gak don’t exactly cut it anymore).

The emoji keyboard, previewed below, will debut in early October.

Will you regularly watch The Splat? And did you say that when TeenNick launched its 2011 retro block “The ‘90s Are All That”? Millennials, we’re so fickle!
