NORTH ANDOVER — Smolak Farms will be open to active-duty military members and their families next weekend, a free event in an appreciation to those who serve the country.

Active military personnel with a proper ID will receive a half bushel of apples, a pumpkin, apple-cider doughnuts and free activities at the farm, compliments of BAE Systems and Smolak Farms.

The offer runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20.

It’s the fifth year that BAE Systems — a military systems company with its Electronic Systems sector based in Nashua — has partnered with the farm for military appreciation events.

“It is an honor and privilege to be able to give back to these families who sacrifice so much on our behalf,” said Lu Goncalves-Getty, director of community investment for BAE Systems’ electronic sector. “This has been a wonderful day for many of our military members in the past and we are happy to be continuing the tradition this year.”
