Estela's Ignacio Mattos and Thomas Carter to Open Cafe Altro Paradiso This Fall

As rumored, the Estela team is working on an Italian-leaning spinoff at 234 Spring St in Soho called Cafe Altro Paradiso. Restaurateur Thomas Carter and chef Ignacio Mattos are planning to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the new cafe with a menu that is slightly more conventional than the one at Estela. Pastas will be part of the program. It's slated to open in December.

That's the big reveal in Flo Fab's fall dining preview. But here are some other items of note:

— SD26 closed for renovations earlier this year after Tony May sold it off, but it turns out the restaurant is not coming back. Instead, John Doherty and Mark Zeff will reopen the space as a New American restaurant this month called Black Barn. SD26's old chef, Matteo Bergamini, is in charge of the kitchen.

— Roxanne Spruance, formerly of Blue Hill and Alison Eighteen, is planning a French-American cafe called Kingsley, which is slated to open this month at 190 Avenue B.

— Antoine Westermann, a French chef with three Michelin stars, is opening a rotisserie-based restaurant called Le Coq Rico at 30 East 20th St. in October.

—Eduard Fraunader, one half of the Edi & the Wolf/Third Man Team, is opening a brasserie-style Austrian restaurant at 506 LaGuardia Place called Freud.

— Guenter Seeger's hotly anticipated tasting menu restaurant is now slated to open at 641 Hudson St. in October.

— Maman is expanded to both Tribeca (211 West Broadway) and Greenpoint (80 Kent Street).

— Rouge Tomate will reopen at 126 West 18th Street with a food menu from Andy Bennett and a wine list by partner/ sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier.

— And finally, Masaharu Morimoto is opening a ramen parlor called Momosan Ramen & Sake at 342 Lexington Avenue.
