Scotland’s only state-funded high school has been named the top performer in the country.

Jordanhill in Glasgow is Scotland’s best-performing school outside the independent sector and has come out top of its class in Parent Power, The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2022.

The school is uniquely funded by a central government grant rather than by the local authority and demand for places is fierce. More than two thirds of pupils live in the most affluent neighbourhoods of Glasgow, with just 6 per cent living in the most deprived.

The school had 85.5 per cent of pupils achieve Nicola Sturgeon’s “gold standard” of five or more Highers across the 2018 and 2019 academic years.
