Based on their recent announcement, Samsung launches new smartwatch to rival Apple timepieces. Tech savvies believe Samsung did not want to fall behind its competitors, which recently introduced a new product in their wearable category.
The announcement was made by the manager of the Samsung Design America, Dennis Miloseski, who posted a photo of his hand on his Instagram account. Followers’ attention was immediately directed towards the round-shaped classic watch, which appears to be Samsung’s most recent wearable.
Miloseski himself added a message to the posted pic saying that he is testing Samsung’s Gear S2. No other specifications were necessary for followers and tech analysts to immediately conclude that this will be the next model that Samsung is planning to release on the market.
Judging by Miloseski’s picture, there will be plenty customers interested in acquiring the gadget. Its classis design make it a lot more attractive than other models already available on the market. As a matter of fact, the smartwatch could easily pass as a regular timepiece due to its retro looks.
Its tech specifications, however, make it a highly advanced piece of equipment that can function as an individual gadget, not just a smartphone accessory. According to the official descriptions, Samsung’s Gear S2, which was originally named Gera A, features GPS service and maps for an accurate location of the user.
The maps are loaded on the smart watch screen without necessarily accessing the smartphone. Yet, it will be interesting to see how the small screen will manage to display the GPS maps and whether customers will be pleased with it.
Additional distinctive features have been embedded on the wearable product. Samsung’s Gera A will also have a Wi-Fi chip, a barometer and a heart rate sensor. These prove Samsung has designed its watch to meet the needs of a fitness band, as well.
Coming to the tech specifications, developers have stated that Gera A will have Samsung’s Exynos dual-core 1.2GHz processor and a 250mAH battery. The 4GB and the 768MB of RAM will give users enough space to locate some of their most important files.
No word has been released yet on the display of the wearable. Samsung has made a reputation from providing its gadgets with high-quality and resistant monitors, so we assume the new smartwatch will not be an exception.
The cost of the gadget has remained equally unknown. Rumors related to a possible launching data indicate that the Gera A model will most likely be introduced to the public in September during the IFA show in Berlin.
