I see that Twitter is rolling out some Feed tests [twitter.com]
...working on providing you with an easily accessible way to switch between a timeline of Tweets that are most relevant for you and a timeline of the latest Tweets. You’ll see us test this in the coming weeks.

It seems they want to see how popular their original timeline format is vs. the relevance/suggestions type feed modeled on changes on other Social Media platforms such as FaceBook.

Optional ways to view activity sounds like a good idea.

Absolutely. Worst thing is having a feeling you're missing out on something and have several options is good. Interesting move.

At last, some sense. There would have been better ways for twitter to have run the previous mess. Can't wait for chronological timeslines back.

I believe that chronological timelines is one of the options they'll be making available. They plan to make it switchable so you can catch up in one view and see more in the other. At least that is what I got from the announcement.

When I used to spend time on Twitter I had a 3rd party platform that let me tailor my own timeline content.

They didn't want people doing that and killed the platform. Now it's going to be a feature again but contain what they want me to see? They almost get it... almost.

Almost is the operative word. :)

That said (I need to shut my mouth for other things I might say), any options to what is currently offered will be welcome. As long as they keep throwing spaghetti to see what sticks to the wall, there's life yet in the platform.

Absolutely right, and the power users were up in arms over that. It made twitter really useful.
Twitter hated tweetdeck becuase it took people off their own platform, and when twitter bought it they sanitised it: It seemed as if they bought it out of spite.

Twitter needs better usability, and this might be a step in the correct direction.

Oh finally! The current timeline is a mess. I miss out on a lot of things. Really wish they'd bring back the chronological TL.
