Marquez blitzes lap record for Silverstone pole

1 of 1

Marc Marquez has blitzed the Silverstone lap record to take pole position for tomorrow’s British Grand Prix, finishing nearly 0.3 clear of Jorge Lorenzo. He only just fell short of becoming the first person the break the two minute mark, after a slide at Woodcote left him completing his lap in 2:00.234.

Dani Pedrosa was third, rounding out the front row, while Valentino Rossi headed row tow behind him from the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha duo of Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith.

It was a good day all round for the local riders, with Smith the best of the Brits from Redding in seventh and Crutchlow in eighth, with Andrea Iannone the last man on the third row.
