BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Jack McDonald announced late yesterday (Aug. 26) the release of the 'Blue Crew App', an Apple and Android application that rewards UNE students and fans for attending Nor'easter athletics events and other campus activities.

The app was developed in collaboration with UNE's Division of Student Affairs and Student Activities and will allow UNE fans to discover upcoming events and "check-in" to earn points redeemable for discounts at UNE's Bookstore. In addition, the app features links to UNE Athletics' social media accounts, as well as live video for a number of home contests.

"We are thrilled to launch the 'Blue Crew App' and are appreciative of our partnership with the UNE Bookstore to make this a reality," commented McDonald. "This is something that is truly cutting-edge for a Division III athletics program, and we expect it to enhance fan attendance and school spirit."

Dennis Leighton, UNE Faculty Athletics Representative, will provide funding for an end-of-year prize at the UNE Bookstore to the student who accrues the most points by the end of the academic year.
