Description

NHS Lothian World War One Project: Researching the Past to Innovate for the Future

This project will be launched at a public lecture given by Yvonne McEwen, Scotland's War Project Director, on the evening of Thursday 24th September, 2015 at 6pm in the Lecture Theatre at the Western General Hospital.

This being the evening before the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Loos in which it is estimated that 30,000 Scots soldiers were involved from all of the Scottish regiments, and of whom 7,000 were killed out of the 21,000 British troops in total killed.

The Lothian Health Service archive, who are a joint partner in this project will be exhibiting a number of historical artefacts related to local health service provision during World War One. These will be available for viewing in the lounge area on the 3rd floor below the lecture theatre.

Doors will open from 5.15pm with refreshments available.
