Don’t Underestimate Yourself

A common hesitation among prospective Virtual Judges is that they didn’t study or work in a STEM field. Regardless of your current discipline, you have a unique perspective. At the core of this competition, our students are exploring or attempting to solve a community problem. Your unique perspective of the community problem or possibly experience with the community problem could help the students get one step closer to realizing their solution.

A Little Goes a Long Way

Remember this is your chance to give praise to a student who may be trying something new or needs encouragement in continuing their exploration of their interest. Don’t forget to recognize any and all good ideas, attempts, or teamwork as demonstrated in their Mission Folder.

Start Early

Set aside time early during Virtual Judging (March 15-29, 2023) to evaluate, comment, and score Mission Folders. You can schedule time in your calendar and/or put a reminder in your phone. We want you to give yourself the time to provide meaningful and encouraging feedback. The two weeks will go by fast, and we don’t want you to miss your opportunity to encourage the next generation of STEM leaders.
