Trendiest Bathroom Features

Bathroom

Do you want a bathroom that follows all the latest trends? From lighting to countertop material, there are plenty of ways to make your bathroom look modern.

This is the second of two articles regarding a survey that was conducted by the National Kitchen and Bath association for the latest trends and products that are most in demand by homeowners and buyers.

Choose Your Style

As far as style and colors the bathroom like the kitchen trend more to the transitional and contemporary style cabinets in shades of white or gray.  Furniture style cabinets with a mix of clean lines and delicate curves are trending ahead of built-in cabinetry. As for the countertops, quartz is the favorite followed by granite and marble with porcelain undermount oval or rectangular sinks.  Vessel sinks and integrated sinks are far behind.

Fixture Options

When it comes to faucet finishes, brushed nickel, satin nickel and polished chrome are the most popular.  In designing a bathroom for all ages, lever faucets or hands-free faucets are desired.  Most homeowners desire a larger showerhead, a handshower and a built-in shelf for their shampoos, etc. in their showers. Curbless showers with linear drains so that larger tiles can be used on the floor and ease of entering is becoming very popular.

Bathe How You Want

In this bathroom, we see a larger shower as well as a lever faucet, some of the biggest trends in bathroom design.

Larger showers are taking over the tub area in the smaller bathrooms but in the larger bathrooms the free standing tub is the favorite choice. White is the dominating color followed by gray, bisque, beige or almond. Blues and greens are the most favorite accent colors and black and white is still in the mix. The most popular lighting options are recessed lighting throughout the bathroom and scones by the mirrors with LED bulbs. Energy efficient vent fans with motion and/or sensor controls are often used.

Additional Features

For the flooring in the bathroom, porcelain tile is more often used than ceramic or stone. The walls are usually painted or partially tiled and for the farm look wainscoting is used. Some special amenities that homeowners love in their bathrooms are radiant floor heating, towel warmers, steam in their showers, and music.

Your bathroom should be a room where you can relax and reenergize.
