A man is dead after falling down an elevator shaft in Manhattan.
The incident happend around 12:40 p.m. at a construction site on 9th Avenue near 42nd Street.
Officials say the 30-year-old man was found unconscious and unresponsive lying on the ground in an elevator shaft.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A full work stop order has been placed at the site, a proposed 28-story concrete residential building. Construction had been performed up to the third floor.
