Video distribution helps you get picture-perfect video to exactly where your clients need it.
AMX by Harman, an NSCA member, knows that there are several ways to successfully “do” video switching and video distribution. (As Kyle Davis, technical marketing specialist at AMX by Harman, points out, there are always several ways of doing nearly anything when technology and integration are involved.)
In a recent blog post from AMX by Harman, the company outlines three different ways to achieve video distribution:
- Piecemeal – using different devices from different manufacturers for each link in the chain (video switchers, signal converters, processors, etc.). This approach offers control over each video distribution component, and can be used to create quality installations. But it can also present problems with complexity, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Integrated hardware – bringing technology together into a single piece of hardware that includes all video distribution capabilities in one device.
- Virtualized – connecting sources to the network using “encoders,” and connecting displays using “decoders,” providing excellent flexibility and scalability.
There is no “right” or “wrong” way to do video switching and distribution – the best fit will depend on project requirements and desires. To read more about each of these three video distribution methods, check out Kyle Davis’ blog post here.
