DURHAM, N.C., - The Blue Devils were on the road again last week for another ACC matchup. And after a comeback that fell short, the Blue Devils dropped a tough ACC contest. The team had the weekend off before Duke returns to Cameron Indoor Stadium Thursday night. But before the Blue Devils take to the court again, Let's take a look at this week's blueprints.

Looking Forward…

The Duke women's basketball team is set to play still three more home games in Cameron Indoor by the end of January. All three games will feature exciting events from Craft Beer Tasting, to Bingo Night, to the first collegiate event for mental health awareness. Find a full list of events and details here.

 

The Recap…

Thursday, January 10

Despite a final push in the fourth quarter, the comeback fell short for the Blue Devils on the road in Atlanta. Duke fell in ACC play to Georgia Tech, 70-64, although the team did outscore the Yellow Jackets, 23-15, in the fourth quarter. Redshirt junior Haley Gorecki had an all-around solid performance with 22 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. Junior Leaonna Odom and Jade Williams both finished the contest scoring double digits. Duke was outrebounded, 45-33, but tallied a season-high 20 assists in the contest. Redshirt freshman Mikayla Boykin tied a Blue Devil freshman record with a career-high 11 assists. Duke is now 0-3 in ACC play this season.

 

 

Mikayla Boykin Setting Records

With 11 assists in the contest against Georgia Tech, redshirt freshman Mikayla Boykin has tied the Duke freshman record for most assists in a game.

 

 

The Coach P. Radio Show

The next Joanne P. McCallie radio show is to air Monday, January 21. Check back here for details of the time of the radio show as the date gets closer. Coach P is set to have five more radio show dates after Jan. 21.

 

Shaq's Surprise Visit in Atlanta

The women's basketball team received quite a surprise on the road in Atlanta when former NBA superstar, and now NBA analyst, Shaquille O'Neal, randomly walked into the team's meal room.

 

 

Recruit Jaida Patrick Back on Court

Blue Devil recruit Jaida Patrick will make her season debut on Tuesday, January 15. Patrick was not able to play due to New Jersey transfer rules, but will be back on court, preparing for her Duke career.

 


Duke Signee Azana Baines Has Strong Start

Blue Devil signee Azana Baines has opened her senior campaign at Gloucester Catholic High School as she is averaging 21.9 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.  She recently scored 29 points in an 81-32 victory over Clayton, while also totaling 26 points in a 67-45 win over Wildwood.

Duke Overseas…

Chelsea Gray, '14

Gray led her Cukurova team to a victory against the league leader, Fenerbahce. In the 88-72 victory, Gray tallied 11 points and three assists in only 16 minutes of play. 

Haley Peters, '14

Peters and Flammes won against Nantes Reze, 83-65. Peters was the MVP of the game, with 20 points, eight boards, and five assists. 

Chloe Wells, '14

Wells and the Czech Republic ZBL could not pull out a victory against DSK Basketball Nymburk, and lost 64-68. Wells was the second leading scorer of the night with 14 points. 

Oderah Chidom, '17

Chidom led the way in Dafni Agjoy's victory against Athinaikos, 65-60. Chidom recorded 25 points, five rebounds, and two blocks. 

Jasmine Thomas, '11

Thomas scored nine points, grabbed six rebounds, and tallied three assists in CCC Polkowice's game against Bourges this week. Thomas' efforts, however, fell short in getting the team another victory. Polkowice fell short, 76-65, on the road. 

Lexie Brown, '18

Brown and UNI Gyor tallied a victory over the tenth-ranked Vasas Akademia, beating them 96-59. Brown recorded 15 points in the night. 

Elizabeth Williams, '15

Williams and and team defeated Kircicegi, 89-45, in the Turkish KBSL. Williams had six points, four rebounds, and two blocks in 17 minutes of play. 

Angela Salvadores

Salvadores and Ensino Lugo beat a closely-ranked AE Sedis team, 78-69. Salvadores had 15 points. 

Erin Mathias, '18

Empoli fell short of a victory in its last game, losing to Lucca, 62-76, at home. Mathias tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in 35 minutes.
