9 emotions everyone feels after passing their driving test

Finally, after months of near death experiences and emptying your wallet for lessons, the day comes to take the practical driving test.

If you thought learning to drive was an emotional rollercoaster, be prepared for the car crash of emotions you feel when you actually pass.

It’s hard to cope with success after 40 minutes of anxiety-ridden driving under the scrutiny of an examiner.

Here’s how the nine emotions play out:

1. Disbelief

You’re joking right? I didn’t fail? How did I not fail? Don’t toy with my emotions examiner.

You realise they’ve handed over a pass certificate – unless this is a very cruel and elaborate joke, you have actually passed.

A rush of joy fills your body as you begin to comprehend that this is not a joke and you are the genius who has passed.

The world is an open road and you are officially let loose on it.

Then fear creeps in – they’re letting you loose on the road alone.

So very alone.

It’s down to you now, with no one to guide you or slam down the emergency breaks when you’ve been an idiot.

You’d do anything to keep your driving instructor with you… why won’t they stay with you forever?

How can they not see I am totally irresponsible and not fit for the roads?

You’re overwhelmed – you can’t do this, you’re not ready.

Maybe you should just tear up that certificate now and hide away on public transport for the rest of your days.

Wait a second – public transport.

You will never again have to smell an armpit as you squeeze onto the bus.

So much smugness is felt because you are no longer a bus wanker.

Now you reach for your phone and share your smugness on social media. Each like, heart and retweet is another boost to the ego.
