Belle Grove Newsletter

A place for all seasons…

Saying goodbye to summer is tough but the changing season brings its own particular delights to Belle Grove.

As leaves turn brown and nights draw in, the place takes on an even more romantic air. So steal away to avoid the summer hustle and bustle and enjoy the serene Suffolk landscape without contending with crowds: bracing walks along the many beaches, cosy evenings tucked up with books by the fire or 'tasting' the gastronomic talents of local chefs. A chance for the sort of quiet time that leaves you completely rejuvenated.

"If you are after an escape from London, wine in front of the fire, the sound of birds not cars etc., this is hard to beat" wrote one visitor.

Romance, yes, but autumn at Belle Grove has a magical quality too. Described as having a Tim Burton-esque feel, it makes a great backdrop for the drama of occasions like Halloween and Bonfire Night.

Bonfire

Watch the flames of our massive annual bonfire dance in the night sky or swap spooky stories. Indeed, 'bewitching' is how Belle Grove is often described.

"It's a magical place and just when you think you've seen it all, you find another little treasure or curio hidden away but always in the right place !" wrote another guest.

City dwellers can get away from it all without the hassle of jumping on a plane or boarding the Eurostar. " It's rare to find somewhere that combines such uniqueness of character with the feeling of home."

And we mustn't forget that Suffolk itself is spellbinding. Take a look at our comprehensive guide of things to explore nearby here.

Exclusively to readers of this Newsletter, we are offering a 15% discount for full week bookings for stays in November or January!

Decorations

As the colder weather descends everyone's thoughts inevitably turn to Christmas and New Year. As usual the demand has been high for the festive season and at the time of writing only the Gate House is available for Christmas week (beginning 20th/21st December). But if you're looking for the perfect place to celebrate New Year week with friends, or simply to escape the world as 2016 dawns, there's still time to book. We look forward to welcoming you.

Be gifted!

If you're stuck for Christmas presents, how about a gift voucher for a stay at Belle Grove (email for details). And Jo's well-received book African Approaches would make an excellent stocking filler for armchair travellers. Find out more here...

In and around Belle Grove:

Tiger

Not many places have a life-size teak tiger guarding their front door as the Upper Barn does! Actually, in this case, it has the head of a tiger on the body of a leopard (those spots) but the seller called it a tiger, so a 'tiger' it is.

We hadn't intended to buy the original pair on our whirlwind shopping expedition to Rajasthan (to equip the barn) but with a bit of spare space in the shipping container, they were hard to resist.

Unhappily, one fell apart after a few years of English weather but we managed to rescue its brother.
