Samsung Galaxy M20 tipped with extra-large 5,000 mAh battery, not-so-chunky body
Samsung has had a bittersweet year, maintaining its comfortable domination over the global smartphone market but seeing shipment numbers decline as companies like Huawei and Xiaomi continue to defy industry trends with steady volume growth.

It’s crystal clear that the mid-range segment is Samsung’s biggest problem, with an overhauled and rebranded budget-friendly portfolio reportedly looking to turn things around next year.

A couple of Galaxy M-series devices seem to be right around the corner, and while they’re obviously unlikely to adopt modern high-end trends like in-display fingerprint recognition, quad camera arrangements or Infinity-O designs, they may still be able to offer decent features for their presumably low price points.

We’re talking dual rear-facing cameras, a waterdrop-style notch, and according to a new AllAboutSamsung report in Germany (translated here), a massive 5,000 mAh battery as well for the Samsung Galaxy M20.

Several companies, including Asus, Motorola, and Xiaomi, have already crossed the 5,000 mAh barrier for a few non-flagship Android handsets, but Samsung has yet to pursue this particular specification race.

Of course, the Galaxy Note 9 can keep the lights on for quite a long time on a single charge, despite packing “only” 4,000 mAh battery capacity. An energy-efficient processor and fine-tuned software are sometimes just as important as a gigantic cell for real-life endurance numbers, so the Galaxy M20 may or may not eclipse the Note 9 with its battery life.

Either way, it’s definitely good to hear Samsung will soon try to improve its struggling mid-end product lineup in a number of different areas. If today’s report proves accurate, the Galaxy M20 will also feature a single 8MP selfie shooter, dual 13 + 5MP rear-facing cameras, and overall measurements of 156.4 x 74.5 x 8.8 mm.

The screen size is unspecified for the time being, but the M20 should squeeze somewhere between the 6-inch Galaxy A6s and 6.4-inch Galaxy A8s with a slightly thicker profile than the former and a shorter and narrower body compared to the latter mid-ranger.
