The Good Wife actor Dylan Baker tried to save his neighbor from an apartment fire Tuesday, ABC News reports. Firefighters eventually rescued the woman from the apartment and she is now in critical condition at the hospital.

“All of the sudden, the alarm went off in the hall, I went to her door and pounded on it, and called her name,” Baker told ABC7. “I opened the door and there were flames in the kitchen and the living room and smoke everywhere. I couldn’t go in.”

Baker had to leave to get his family out of the building, and firefighters took over from there. According to ABC7, they haven’t yet identified the cause of the fire but know that it started in the studio apartment’s kitchen area. See the channel’s interview with Baker below.
