About the project
We never needed the Glazer family.
Before their hostile takeover, our club was debt free, but then they came along and loaded the club with hundreds of millions of debt.
Enough is enough.
The Glazers have spent 10 years in charge and it is now time for them to go.
None of us would deny that a football club, is as much about finances as about getting three points, but we need fans who care equally about both. Do you remember when the late Malcolm Glazer ever attended a match or spoke about the club publically? I don't.
So, what can we do about it?
I am launching an ambitious campaign to raise £2 billion ($3 billion) to buy out the Glazer family and make Manchester United a fan owned club.
Each donor will own shares in the club, have their names engraved on a plaque inside Old Trafford, and be invited to our press conference announcing this historic takeover to the world's media.
I recognise that the Glazers paid $1.47 billion for the club and would be making a profit of over $1.5 billion, but if we want our club back - we have to be prepared to pay for it at any cost.
I put myself forward as your chairman. I do not have a business background, but a commercial mindset and football brain, with deep passion and a clear vision for our club. We need to create a fan owned club and bring the biggest ever feel good factor back to the Theatre of Dreams, to get us winning silverware again. This season, our Plan A should be to regain the Premiership, win the FA Cup and Capital One Cup, and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. Some pundits may question whether we can win the league, but it is not impossible. The addition of an established goalkeeper, striker and central defenders can help bolster the team, and ensure we do not concede avoidable goals like we did against Swansea, and can support Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay up front. Of course, I have potential players in mind. If we fall short, our Plan B should be securing automatic Champions League qualification by finishing second or third, winning the Capital One Cup and FA Cup, and reaching the latter stages of the Champions League. There is no reason why our club cannot achieve these targets.
Yes, this is a very ambitious campaign and a mind blowing amount of money.
But, I am a doer, not just a thinker. We can only get our club back if we try. Let's join together and make Manchester United a fan owned club.
