Trump In N.J. Smiling With Democrats, Cops Causes Uproar

"I didn't know doing your job with respect and dignity ... was a bad thing," Keith Hahn said of his pictures with The Donald.

An Edison police officer who posed for pictures with Donald Trump defended the photos, even though he is the township’s Democratic chairman.

“I didn’t know doing your job with respect and dignity, regardless of one’s political affiliation, was a bad thing,” Keith Hahn said after criticism of pictures with The Donald.

“Mr. Trump was a gentleman and I appreciate his visit to Edison, as did Mayor Lankey who greeted him at the door and posed for photos as well.”

The photos were taken at The Barclays PGA golf tournament at the Plainfield Country Club over the weekend. Hahn was at the country club working security, according to nj.com.

The Republican presidential candidate caused such a stir that he needed extra protection, according to the report.

Anthony Russomanno, a Hahn foe and aide to Democratic Edison Mayor Thomas Lankey, took issue with the Trump-Hahn photos, noting Trumps comments about Hispanics and immigration have created an uproar.

In the nj.com article, he said:

“Photos of Edison Democratic Chairman Keith Hahn giving a thumbs-up to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump are very disturbing to me.”

The liberal Daily Kos website also took issue, saying Hahn “disgustingly” took a photo with Trump.

“But to now see the Democratic Chairman of the 5th largest town in the state posing with Donald Trump and declaring, “I’m a cop first, Democratic Chairman second... Mr. Trump was gracious, respectful and more importantly appreciative of the impromptu security detail provided by the Edison Police. The Barclay’s was a great event, Edison Police, Fire and EMS did a great job and we were happy to see Mr. Trump.” is utterly disgusting.

“I’ll be calling the State Committee and Middlesex County Organization today to ask for a censure of Chairman Hahn, and ask that you do as well. The number is (609) 392-3367 for the state and (732) 906-3680 for the county. Don’t let this sort of stuff happen in our party; no matter where you’re from, make it known that we’re watching closely to hold behavior like this accountable.”
