Pop star Ellie Goulding was forced to plead with fans as vicious brawls broke out among the crowd during her slot at the Glasgow Summer Sessions festival.

Shocking footage shows at least two girls being stamped on by other music fans as crowd members watched on.

Screams can be heard as fighting breaks out while Goulding plays hits 'Starry Eyed' and 'Love Me Like You Do'.

One girl is seeing being dragged across the ground while another girl repeatedly stamps on her chest and legs.

Another girl is seen being dragged to the floor while at least one female jumps and stamps on her.

The singer was eventually moved to plead with fans to stop fighting.

She told the crowd: "Can I say one thing please, from me. Can you guys look after each other... No fighting, come on, peace. No fighting, there's no need for it."

The fighting is believed to have broken out at around 7.30pm last night as Ellie Goulding played before headliner Calvin Harris at the 35,000-capacity festival.

Police Scotland said there had been a total of 38 arrests across the two-day festival on Saturday and last night.

Six people were arrested on suspicion of violent offences yesterday but it is not yet clear if the arrests are in relation to the videos.

Fans took to Twitter after the performance to praise the 28-year-old's intervention.

Clarky wrote: "You were so amazing at Bellahoustan park last night. Your performance was outstanding man. The way you broke up that fight."

Jade Robertson said: "Is the sweetest most amazing gal ever! Such a kind heart! Never fight when she's performing, she cares about your safety."

In a similar incident last year, Goulding stopped in the middle of a set to stop two girls fighting at the front of the crowd.

She said: ""Girls, what's up? That song is meant to be about happiness, not fights."
