Closing reception: Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the Department of Art & Design at the University of Alberta, and the 45th anniversary of its studio Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program, the oldest in the country.

Since 1970, more than 80 students have earned MFA degrees from the department's internationally renowned printmaking division and many have moved on to highly successful careers as artists, teachers, writers and curators in Canada and around the world.

The FAB Gallery's exhibition of From Time to Time has been organized as part of the the Department of Art & Design's 50th anniversary celebrations to honour the team of professors, contract instructors, technicians and artists-in-residence who have contributed to the success of the printmaking program since its inception and to

acknowledge the role of University of Alberta professor emeritus (1971 -2006), Walter Jule, the recipient of the 2015 Southern Graphics Council International Teaching Excellence Award.

Walter Jule is the first artist outside the United States to be bestowed with the prestigious SGCI Teaching Excellence Award. When he was invited to exhibit a solo retrospective of his work at the SGC 2015 conference in Knoxville, Tennessee, Jule organized From Time to Time to feature the U of A's printmaking alumni at the conference, March 18 - 21, 2015.
