Artist FAQs:

Does it matter what side of the skateboard I create my design on? No, your creation can be on either side of the skateboard!

Does it matter if my skateboard is horizontal or vertical? Nope! It does not matter which direction you design your skateboard.

How do I prepare my artwork to hang in a business?

  • Make sure that there is a 3x5 index card on the back of your artwork that lists your Name, Phone Number, Title of your work and asking price or “NFS” if not for sale.

  • Your artwork must have a hanging mechanism to be accepted. You can use a thick fishing line to loop through the skateboard holes, OR drill short screws into the back of your skateboard (not the existing holes - they will fall out) and then wrap picture frame wire around the screws to create your hanging mechanism.

Where will my artwork be displayed? There are over 45 participating businesses that will be displaying decks during the event. Part of the fun is finding your artwork - just like a scavenger hunt! If you have trouble finding your artwork, the DDA or South Street Skateshop can let you know the location where your artwork is displayed.

What happens if my artwork sells? Congrats! The DDA will contact you for mailing information, and then you will receive a check in the mail for the full asking price by June 7, 2024.

The event is over, when can I pick up my artwork? Artists can pick-up their artwork between May 18 - May 31.

Artists MUST go back to the business that displayed their artwork for pick-up. We highly recommend calling the business ahead of time to check their business hours. Any artwork not collected by June 1st will become property of the Rochester DDA.

I picked up my artwork, why do I have a star on the back of my board? The star on the back of your skateboard means that your artwork was chosen for judging in your category.
